MemberI think the via nano chip in NC20 is a 64 bit processor no?
Win XP doesn’t support 64 bit. Isn’t the system going to be way faster if a 64 bit operating system is installed like Win 7?

MemberYou can get WinXP 64.
I will install Win 7 64bit on mine when it become available.
I think I will probably put on the release candidate.

There is a 64 bit version of Windows XP, though from what I’ve heard it doesn’t work that well.Generally moving from a 32 bit operating system to a 64 bit operating system there will be no noticeable performance difference, some operations which benefit from 64 bit will be a bit faster such as video encoding, however other operations will actually be slower under 64 bit. In addition 64 bit may use more RAM.
One of the main advantages of 64 bit (for a normal computer user) is the ability to utilise more than 4GB memory, however both the NC10 and NC20 do not support that much RAM anyway.

MemberI use XP 64 bit at work. For, erm, professional reasons. I don’t have much postive stuff to say baout it. Seems to be the same as the 32-bit one except finding drivers is a nightmare and my favourite freeware apps tend not to work 🙁

[/quote1235746722]The NC20 maybe has a chance to install a 4GB ram on it because of its VX800 chipset.
But no one had put 4GB ram on NC20 for testing yet, so it’s not very clear then.

MemberI think NC20 has only one RAM slot. Aren’t those 2GB max?
Even if the one slot supports 4GB ram, currently those are way more expensive than 2 x 2 GB. -
