Home › Forums › Operating Systems › Windows 7 › Very easy way to install win 7 as Duel Boot with out DVD or USB.
1: Download Win 7
2: Download and install Magicdisc ( virtual cd )
3: Decide if you want to put win 7 on d: or create new partition ( if so create a new one to at least 17 Gig )
4: mount the win7.iso on the virtual drive and let auto run, run.
5: install custom and choose the partiton you want to install to
6: let install run
DONE
ps if you want to remove XP and just have Win7 then skip steps 3-5. it will install over xp with out the need for a disc BUT IT WILL WIPE ALL YOUR STUFF ON THAT DRIVE. im not sure how sam recovery would do at getting xp back but i would guess it will recover xp as fresh install.
Minor note however – do not use magic disk within windows 7. It did a pretty nice job of messing things up 😉
Worked great for me
Also as an update you can copy your start menu from xp to win 7 and all installed programs run
Or even simpler, Simply extract the ISO and autorun 😉

Greetings,
I’d like a bit of clarification on this last part if possible… You can just copy the “Start Menu” folder from the XP directory into the “Start Menu” folder in Win7 and you should be able to run all of your XP programs in Win7?
I’ll have to give this one a try.
Thanks for the tip!
not all, but most work. things that intigrate into the system like office and virus checkers need to be installed but stand alone programs run fine
