Bluetooth SpeakersDecember 20, 2008 at 10:43 pm #176779PanManMemberThese look rather tasty (& get a good review)
December 21, 2008 at 10:26 am #176783neoMembernice finds but i’m after something small n light that i can just chuck in a rucksack and not worry to much about them 🙂
December 21, 2008 at 11:20 am #176780PanManMemberThe only downside I can see to them is that they don’t work in a passive non powered mode.
As for portability they weigh 1.4kg (Sammy is 1.33kg), the sub woofer is 245 mm wide (Sammy measures 185.1 mm and they come supplied with a nifty padded travel case
hmmm I can feel an order being placed
pooh out of stock at Play

It’s a little top-heavy for the NC10 if you have the lid almost completely open, but otherwise it’s pretty darn good. The USB cable is short, which works well on a netbook as there’s little slack hanging about that can get caught. It can also stand on separately on a table thanks to a simple locking mechanism, so quite versatile.
Sound is surprisingly good, got a bit of oomph to it. Looks quite large above the small NC10 screen and might look a bit silly on the white version. Has an incredibly bright blue LED when it’s powered, especially in the dark, but it could be handy for illuminating your keyboard. And if you really don’t like it, it’s nothing a bit of duct tape can’t fix. 😀
December 26, 2008 at 10:45 pm #176772s162000MemberLooks cool that’s exactly the sort of thing i’m looking for. But when you say “top heavy” do you mean like damaging the screen
December 26, 2008 at 11:06 pm #176764BeckyMemberNope, the weight of it makes the NC10 lose balance when the lid is open quite far. It has a couple of pads that protect the lid when attached, though it doesn’t go anywhere near the screen itself (one advantage of the NC10 having such a thick trim).
I will take a photo and upload it so you can see how it looks. 🙂
December 26, 2008 at 11:33 pm #176765BeckyMemberOK, here it is:
What you see of the cable is literally all the slack there is.
December 27, 2008 at 8:33 am #176773s162000MemberThanks for the picture Becky. I may have to invest in one of those if I can find one.
Oh I’ve just noticed the Gigabyte speakers at the start of this thread are in the Play.com sale now. For the same price as they were before the sale!
December 27, 2008 at 8:52 am #176781PanManMemberBut it covers the webcam up ;o)
December 27, 2008 at 2:36 pm #176766BeckyMemberYou can always shift it to one side if you wanna use the webcam. 😀
