I hadn’t opened Update Manager before reading this thread. I selected “Search for new updates” and after searching it informed me that it was unable to find any new updates, as the currently installed drivers & software were the best for my system. In view of the posts above this seemed strange. I then looked at Configuration and found that automatic search, download and install options were checked by default. I then selected “View Installed Updates” which was empty. This all leaves me quite confused, not knowing if the update has worked or not

02CA not 03CA. Did I miss something to update it.Thanks in advance.

[/quote1231804195]Did you have the AC Adapter plugged in while you did the update? At first I didnt have the AC adapter plugged in and the updater warned me to plug it in, after I plugged it in I thought it was working but after running the updater again it said the BIOS still needed to be updated. Ran it again with the AC adapter in from the start and it actually went thru the process. Apparently with the AC adapter not in, it just skips the BIOS flashing and then proceeds to the reset the system.
January 13, 2009 at 12:39 am #179459ROB2246MemberThanks Reverok I now cannot get into the Samsung update plus . When I click on the desktop shortcut it does not do anything . I also went directly to the application with the same result. Rebooted several times but to no avail.
January 13, 2009 at 12:59 am #179460ROB2246MemberThanks Was able to get back in to Update Plus and re-do the bios update while attached to AC power. Thanks again Reverok. All have great evening.
January 13, 2009 at 2:25 pm #179451RedfishMemberTo help others, I will review my “dumb” update mistakes. 1. I did not have the power cord plugged in. 2. My first message when I tried to install the updates yeilded a -“NO STRING” message – which I now understands that you can only download/install ONE update at a time. 3. When I saw the “update bar” that is NOT like the one other programs use -I thought that the update was not downloading. It was only after I went elsewhere on my computer and saw that something was indeed downloading. So if you are thinking that you will see “download progress” reflected on a bar- don’t look there.
I think that whomever is designing these updates, needs some assistance in communication format. If they would at least put something at their website that explains what the updates do and what their communication signals mean.
January 13, 2009 at 2:34 pm #179437jezMemberSorry to hear it didn’t go smoothly – but thanks for sharing your tales of woe!
January 14, 2009 at 1:28 pm #179439KevinMemberI thought I had a problem running the update, a couple of the driver downloads showed no indication of progress and I thought it had hung. Turns out it was a combination of my impatience and my slow (1 Mbit) internet connection. After several minutes it all worked fine – if others have the same symptoms be patient.

January 14, 2009 at 2:52 pm #179456philMemberYeah when mine was updating the Network Switching gizmo, the progress bar didn’t move and it sat there for ages, but it did finish eventually!
Seems Samsung still have some more work to do on Update Plus!
January 14, 2009 at 10:39 pm #179446chris_bMemberWith Update Plus on Auto setting (download but do not install), the first update notification popped up to update the Update Plus utility. This done the next 3 updates were then downloaded:-
Easy Network Manager
Lan Driver
System BIOS 03CA
All 3 installed individually, with the BIOS last. After restart, all appeared normal, no problems apparent.
Job done. Thanks tikkalalee.Chris B
January 15, 2009 at 9:52 am #17944471notoutMemberI updated whilst running battery power – should it not have worked?
I have not done the BIOS one, but have done the 3 others and the updater itself
Ah – upon further reading it looks like only the BIOS one which doesn’t work on battery :o)
January 15, 2009 at 10:43 am #179440scientistMemberWith the power adapter plugged in, it is probably best to always do the BIOS update first, then the other software updates.
