January 12, 2009 at 8:06 am #179447russwebMemberNice spot, you have to update the updater first and then it works
Thanks again
January 12, 2009 at 12:31 pm #179457leebioniMemberSame here it’s found 3 updates for me today
-
System BIOS update 03CA
-
Easy Network Manager Update
-
LAN Driver update
Hope they all work ok
January 12, 2009 at 2:10 pm #179436jezMemberYep mine kicked into life too! It first wanted to update the updater! I haven’t run it as I was on mobile broadband but will do so tonight!
January 12, 2009 at 2:57 pm #179442MattJessopMemberIt’s done something a bit weird to mine – I lost the “Samsung” start menu folder – not a big deal but annoying.
January 12, 2009 at 5:33 pm #179454ReverokMemberUpdater works for me too now. If you double click on the update list it will tell you what was fixed/improved but not for the BIOS updates. When I try to update the easy network manager, it gives me a popup screen saying “NOSTRING”. Other than the “most recent check for udpates” and the nostring bug, I would say samsung is finally trying to make it work properly.
January 12, 2009 at 5:33 pm #179461deadkennyMemberNice. Will give it a go.
Did notice the recovery thing wanted me to do another system backup, but I cancelled it at the time. Might do one before trying the updates though.
Does it backup to the same hidden partition as the original backup (about 6gb I understand)?

[/quote1231781818]No you can backup to the D:, external hard drive or burn it to a DVD (has not tried this though).
January 12, 2009 at 5:50 pm #179452tikkalaleeMemberdid you update the bios first, and then you have to restart. then you go back to the updater, and click what you want to install next. if you try to install more than 1 at a time you get the “NO STRING”. you have to install each one individually.
January 12, 2009 at 7:16 pm #179448soutthpawMemberThanks for the scoop, Just reinstalled it and it did work good, it updated my camera and LAN driver… I had uninstalled it earlier as it didn’t seem to work well… My bios and battery and display were already updated manually

[/quote1231787864]that is easy to fix, all the actual programs are stored at C:/windows/program files/samsung/ select the programs you want to have in a new folder and right click on the program (.exe) file and choose send to desktop (create shortcut.) once you have all the files there on the desktop, put them all in a new folder and rename it samsung. then drag it to the start menu. most likely you accidentally dragged the samsung start menu folder into another folder on the desktop.
you can arrange the start meny by right clicking on it and choosing properties, then switch to classic menu and choose advanced, then you get a file menu open. choose the start menu and programs. in that you can then look at and re arrange all your start menu shortcuts…. not sure if that will be of help to you. you can also access the start menu and rearrange it from the my computer and go to C: doccuments and settings
January 12, 2009 at 9:25 pm #179450RedfishMembermy update manager appeared.when I first booted up. It download “update” to manager. I got the “no string” message and tried the “individual approach”. NOthing happenned. Now I have NO update manager and can’t tell what is going on.
Any suggestions?
January 12, 2009 at 9:31 pm #179441dinoMemberis this updater comprehensive? or are there still new drivers that one should install manually to get better performance? as in, the ones listed in the sticky post about the latest samsung/component drivers?
