MemberHey all, this is specifically for the american NC10 owners out there.
My NC10 came with the same AC adapter that I’m sure we all know and love, and of course it can take input from 100-240V.
My question is about the cord between the brick and the wall socket, which has a label at one end that reads “7A 125V.” The question is: can this cord only accept the voltage used in North America? Do I need to buy a converter or a new cord when I travel? I’m about to go to Australia for a semester abroad, so this is somewhat important to me. 🙂Has anyone taken their USA NC10 outside of the country and used it with only a plug adapter?
Thanks!

MemberI’m sure it will work. I’ve taken my presario laptop that has american plug to europe using just a plug converter and it worked.
The cord can transfer all kinds of voltages currents and frequency, all you need is an adapter cause the power outlets there are probably not the same as in usa.

MemberThats actually the Reason why they seperate the power cord from the AC. This Way Samsung only has to supply different cords to various countries instead of different AC Adapters.
And its good for the Customer because all we need for international travel is a different cord.

MemberSo Don, you say I do need a different cord, while summertan says I don’t. Where would I even get one of those cords?

Memberjasdoyle, just go to a local Radio Shack or electronics store of your choosing and pick up an international adapter kit. It will include a number of adapters and a sheet describing which adapter works with a particular country. An adapter plugs into a particular county’s outlet and you plug your US plug into the adapter. You could also Google up something like “Australian power plug requirements” or something like that to download a picture or drawing of the power plug necessary and only get that adapter from your Radio Shack or electronics store.
I happen to be answering you from Mexico, and I have had no problems with tha furnished plug. I have been to Switzerland and Italy in the past two years and though these two countries require entirely different plugs, the kit I described had the correct adapters. I hope this helps you. Good luck.dockehr

[/quote1234054261]I was just saying that instead of getting a international adapter kit you could just get a cable for around 2 bucks at a store in the country you wish to travel to.

MemberI travel through out Asia with my NC10 and have had no problems with the cord. I even use the same cord to charge my PSP. I did check it the first few times but it never gets too warm. On the other hand I fried a wireless router when I only checked what the cord was rated at and forgot to check the router itself.

MemberI recommend that if you’re going to Australia for an extended period of time that you buy one of these to replace the existing lead from the power brick to the wall outlet:
Much more convenient and safer than using travel adaptors hanging out of the wall. Of course, only worth it if you’re going for longer than a week or two.

MemberThanks Adatay, that looks like a great idea… because yeah, I’ll be there for 5 months!
Where can I get one of those?

Not sure I can help you there, I suggest you look in your local hardware/electrical shops or on ebay. If not you could easily pick one up during your first week in Australia.February 9, 2009 at 11:55 pm #182762Don_Audio

MemberI live in Australia. You can pick up those figure 8 power cords at any electrical shop. Heres a link to one of the more popular electronics shops, use the store locator to find a store near where you will be staying.
