Congrats on being the first to get a Samsung NC10 forum up and running – the first is usually the most popular. A little frustrating though as it isn’t the most intuitive forum around – need to go to the home page to login for example! Also, not seen a way to subscribe to a thread either by default in my profile or using thread tools. Am I missing something?
Also, ont he home page you mention Gallery but I have yet to find it. Hopefully you can make things a little more intuitive around here before someone else comes along and makes an easier to use forum.November 17, 2008 at 12:54 pm #169632jezMemberNo probs donka – all those things are possible!
I guess i’ve fallen victim to the old problem of creating it how I like to use it. But those things are easy to plugin so I’ll look into that this week.
The gallery page is taking shape, it was up and then down, apologies for that! Soz -> amateur webmaster alert! Ive decided to make it flickr driven to make it easy for people to contribute too.
News on that will follow shortly!
Thanks for the feedback – at the end of the day I want this to be a useable community site so anything that helps is appreciated. Im just a genuine NC10 fan who has always secretly wanted to run a site so fingers crossed that it takes off :)! Bit of a learning curve for me thats for sure!
I will be limited slightly by the plugins available to this CMS and most tend to have weak forums. However the good news is that e107 is gearing up for a major release which should have a whole load of new features allowing for an easy upgrade. Gotta love data driven sites!
Cheers.

I also think it helps that the operator is not some uber experienced and elitist forum guru but a regular enthusiast like the rest of us.
Saying that though, if this becomes THE NC10 forum on the internet then a few things, like thread subscribes, private messages etc should be implemented but then again there are websites with massive communities with boards even more old school and less user friendly than this one!
November 17, 2008 at 3:48 pm #169633jezMemberThanks for the support ashesfall. I’m a big fan of clean and simple and actually this theme is a wordpress theme. It takes 3 clicks to change the theme on e107 driven sites so I might play around on my offline test copy.
Thread tracking is added – see the link at the top of the page “Track Thread”. It seems a little small but I’ll look into that lol!
I’ve installed the private message plugin but I need to add the menu somewhere and look into the configuration options.
I think some theme changes will come along, Id like to make the forum a little more “solid” and I think including the login in the main menu bar would be good.
All these things are easy to do with e107 it’s just going to take a little bit of time and experimentation :). I am genuinely enjoying this so am committed to giving it a good go!
There are plenty of netbook and UMPC community sites around so my intention was to always make this more niche. I just dont have the time or inclination to go digging into every netbook release! But I do have the desire to make the most out of my NC10!
It would be ace if I got a little traction and the chance to grow the site! We’ll see how it goes!

Feel free to get in touch if you would like any assistance as these sites always prove helpful to get the most from a device – I found the MSIWind.net very helpful – until now that I have decided the NC10 is the way forward for me.
