Hi all,
I know that the touchpad has this enlargeres smallerer (sorry for the non tech terms!) but I just cant figure out how to use it and keep aftivating it by mistake. It looks like a great tool cos I often want to enlarge text I’m reading but I just cant get the hang of it.
Help please? Is there a video user guide!?!
You mean the “pinch” function? I don’t know of a vid – guess I could have a go at making one lol!
But briefly, you place two fingers on the touchpad and move them apart to zoom out and move them together to zoom in (or is it vice versa – I can’t check, the Mrs has stolen my Sammy once again!). If you find it annoying it is easy to switch off via the control panel.
thanks jez! BUT… i put 2 fingers together and i see a kind of plus sign + , when i put my fingers apart nothing happens! or i shold say that sometimes it will make it a bit bigger but then it goes too big, and next thing I know its gone teeny and I cant get it back to normal! I dont really want to turn it off cos it seems like a really cool feature but I just cant seem to get the hang of it!
I only really use the pinch function in firefox and it works exactly as Jez described but it does take a bit of practice.
Tip – if you use Firefox and you zoom in/out using the pinch tool and then you want to get it back to normal again press Ctrl+0
maybe the option has been turned off on yours
yeah I know what you mean by a plus sign – it has arrows on it? That sounds right. What software are you running when you try it? ie are you trying to enlarge a webpage in IE?
the option isnt turned off and i’m trying to use it on IE7 and aol..
Looks like you have 2 problems. First you are using Internet Explorer and Second you are using AOL. heehee. really try running firefox, once you get the add-in’s and display set up the way you want you will not go back to IE…. I don’t use pinch either, ctrl with + and – keys will increase and decrease zoom. found pinch too sensitive and not accurate…
thanks southpaw. i’ve downloaded firefox. cant really seem how its any different to internet explorer. can u help me understand how? and what settings do u recommend tweaking?
