After very rapidly dismissing the Samsung cloth envelope as a viable carry case I am looking to buy a decent, well padded carry case for the NC10.
A little bit of storage for the charger is an option that might be useful also, if anyone sees any likely contenders then please let me know.
Also is there an incar charger around for the NC10?

November 12, 2008 at 8:24 pm #168704jezMemberyeah good question, this was something I was going to turn my attention to too. I have an old laptop back that I used to use as a slightly “cooler” briefcase(!) on my train ride to work. I guess now I could actually use it for its intended purpose (although I liked the idea of someone nicking it and being just slightly disappointed when they find it just has a couple of well thumbed articles on Data Warehousing and an apple core in it).
Although these days, being a trendy man about town (or not!), I like the idea of something a bit sporty:

November 12, 2008 at 9:54 pm #168711fatnbaldMemberI have always tried to go down the “the laptop bag that looks nothing like a laptop bag” route and gone for a few of the rucksack style ones in the past. One reason is for the amount of time I spend on planes and the amount of crap I carry with me when on planes and another one is to keep thieving little eyes away from knowing exactly what I am carrying or placinf in the boot of the car!

[/quote1226568666]yeah agreed, Im a bit paranoid about carrying expensive attractive stuff around. I always used to be very covert with my phone in the early days but now everyone has one and I have the same 8 yr old one I dont worry anymore!!
My wedding ring is prob worth more than this netbook anyway!

[/quote1226609953]what, getting a “non-laptop” style laptop bag? Yep agreed, besides laptop style laptop bags look a bit “uncool” these days!!
November 14, 2008 at 2:27 am #168717levelreyMemberi don’t know about you guys but im going to be using this protective sleeve:

it looks sturdy and it will definitely protect the laptop from getting scratches cause i’m planning on carrying it in this:

November 14, 2008 at 9:42 am #168707jezMemberlol. This bag I like. Carry my laptop it will.

My needs are more basic than cool or uncool, I travel to some slightly dodgy parts of the world like Central America and sub saharan Africa, they do not mess around if you have something they want in some of the places and a scruffy rucksack is less high profile. On the other hand their wireless are fantastic compared to the overpriced crap we have over here !November 17, 2008 at 1:37 am #168720ChirimollaMemberWhoops. I started a thread on this same topic in the Accessories board before I saw this.
I was also unconvinced by the slip cover my NC10 came with, so I’ve splashed out on this:
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.14660
At £3.70 including postage, it should be a bargain. I’ll update you when it arrives to let you know whether it fits snugly and is adequately shockproof.
Personally I’m not looking for a laptop case type of bag, just something nice and shockproof to keep it safe when it’s in my rucksack along with the books I take to uni every day.
November 17, 2008 at 10:44 am #168708jezMemberI like that idea, with that kinda case you can then keep it in an “everyday” bag without worry. And like you say, it’s a bargin price.
I need to make my mind up soon so I can start commuting with my NC10 – afterall, that’s why I bought it!
November 17, 2008 at 12:36 pm #168719RsaeireMemberFor anyone looking for a protective case, I found this zeroshock on eBay. It doesn’t have a handle or straps, so you will need to hold it or put it in a bag, but it is perfect for those of use who already carry a bag themselves and can easily put the NC10 in it instead.
November 17, 2008 at 3:16 pm #168718ashesfallMemberI like this thread as I am also on the lookout for something like this. My requirements are something that is:
Black or at least dark.
Fairly compact but with enough room for accessories.
Something with straps, I’m not looking for a slip case.
And something that doesn’t scream LOOK AT ME I HAVE A LAPTOP when I walk down the street!Any suggestions welcome!
