MemberHi everyone,
I have been lurking this site for some time and i’ve got my own white Sammy and very mucho enjoying it!
Anywayz, for filetransfers from my own desktop pc i use at home. It’s called
TEAMVIEWER and it works like a charm, it’s free for NONcommercial use and is kinda fast too, dunno if it has been mentioned before on this forums but then i missed it, have fun with it
and thanks to all for the info that has been spread so far about the NC10 🙂
All the best,
EdwinDecember 5, 2008 at 12:21 pm #173906jez
MemberHi Salsa and welcome to the forum – glad you have been enjoying it!
I don’t know if anyone has opened up a discussion on remote desktop software yet. I heard of Team viewer recently though this post on lifehacker. TeamViewer was one of the recommended apps. I’ve been usingVNC myself which also works well.
Anyone else used remote desktop apps?

MemberLogmein, but i think its just sluggish, has a massive footprint (48Mb) and you’ve got to pay to use file transfer function.

MemberWell Blackwhizz i am a real n00b and Teamviewer does transfer files from one pc to laptop or whatever pc for that matter. I coud even do it 🙂 and to me it seems really fast!

MemberWould it not be easier to just share a drive or folder over a home network?

MemberRaseire, true maybe, but as said i am a N00b and i have vista on my desktop so that “doesn’t” do the trick for me, so as a soltion (for me that is so far) i tried to give my 2cents about this program 🙂

MemberYeah, tbh if you are using it just for file transfer then you should be able to set up a home network – worth reading up on that if you can 🙂
But these programs have a far greater use – if you are at home working on your desktop then remotely connecting is very handy whilst you configure and install software on your NC10.
Obviously after that if you continue to remotely connect from your desktop all the time then buying the netbook was a little pointless ;)! I do go the other way sometimes though – remote to my desktop from my NC10.
I think it’s definitely a good topic to raise.

That’s fair enough. I thought I would just mention it anyway as I find it works a treat for me. 😉 -
