MemberWouldn’t call myself a hardcore Trekkie, but I certainly am a fan and definitely looking forward to the new movie. I’m especially keen to see the direction Abrams takes with it, anyone else and I’d be very dubious, but I’ve got faith that he will do this justice. I rarely go to the cinema (last thing I saw was Return of The King lol) but I won’t be missing this one.
I’m actually a bit of a sci-fi nut in general. Have spent the last few weeks watching SG-1 and Atlantis right from scratch. Will never look at a packet of Jaffa Cakes the same ever again. 😀

MemberTNG is my fave too! 😀
Best movie for me would be a toss-up between Wrath of Khan and First Contact.

MemberI always liked the Wrath too! Must admit I haven’t seen the last few movies. So the new one is the old characters with new actors? Simon Pegg is Scotty I heard!

MemberThe last film I saw was Indy 4 which I thought was a little disappointing! My favourite movie has got to be
KHHHHHAAAAANNNNNNN! KHHHHAANNNNNNNNN!Love TNG and the original series too. It’s going to be great seeing it on the big screen again.

MemberI am really looking forward to the new Star Trek movie too. Abrams is amazing at what he does; just look at the success of Alias, Cloverfield and Fringe.
My favourite Star Trek series was Voyager. I know, behind Enterprise, it is the most hated of all Star Trek series among trekkies, but I thought the technology, alien races and cast were great. I also liked DS9 and loved the last two series when the Dominion war was so prevalent.
To be honest, and I know a few of you have already said this was your favourite Star Trek series, TNG isn’t a favourite of mine. Visually it was excessively bright, it had weak special effects and it looked more like a soap-opera than it did a sci-fi TV show, with the amount of make-up each of the cast wore; and I’m not talking about the prosthetics Michael Dorn had to wear. It did have its good points, as it ushered in the Borg and some of the stories, as well as the cast, were interesting, however, overall I’d rank it lower on my list of favourite Star Trek series.

MemberI just read that Ricardo Montalban passed away just yesterday. His performance in Wrath Of Khan was legendary. An excellent, iconic, and prolific actor. Rest In Peace.
(Fixed now, apologies Jez)

MemberOh no, that is sad. I didn’t realise just what an illustrious career he had and how handsome he was, I’m ashamed to say I only knew him from Trek.
I second the Rest in Peace sentiments.

MemberI have to agree with Becky, Wrath and First contact are my Fav movies. I’ve liked all the series, TNG went on just right, DS9 went on waaay to long, what was with that last episode?
Anyway I’ve become a huge fan of Voyager, Seven of Nine, need I say more 😉Enterprise, it doesn’t deserve the hatred some feel for it.

How can you even put Cloverfield in the same sentence as Alias and the brilliant Fringe?January 16, 2009 at 9:58 am #179847Rsaeire

The camera style of Cloverfield was very well used, the storyline felt real, for the most part, and the way in which the tension increased throughout the movie, as you couldn’t really see what the monster looked like, was very well done in my opinion. Honestly, what wasn’t there to love about it?I would put Alias well above Cloverfield and would put Fringe somewhere in-between. Alias is definitely one of my favourite shows of all time; behind Stargate SG1.

MemberThree words for you! Deep Space Nine! So much better than any other Trek there is no comparison! The characors are brilliant and so many that work so well in pairs. Quark & Odo, Bashier & Obrien. Garek on his own is just great! And then teh bad guys! Kai Win, Gul Ducat. I admit that DS9 along with Firefly are my favorite shows ever! As for the movies I am a bit sad and my favorite is Generations! with The Voyage Home and First Contact!
As for the new movie, I am excited 🙂

I agree, DS9 is good, especially the last few seasons, but overall, I felt it quite boring. And since I’m on the subject, how can you even put Firefly in the same sentence as DS9? Firefly is one of the slowest TV shows I’ve watched; the slowest being Lost.May 13, 2009 at 8:40 pm #179857s162000
MemberSo…. i’ve found the old thread…. has anybody seen it yet? I have seen it and I liked it! So, so, different from Trek of old but in a good way.
