Dear all, got my NC over the weekend and been putting it through its paces. The speaker performance is quite poor and at times even at maximum setting I can hardly hear some Youtube links.
However, even with the headset in use, the sound is not that much louder. Is there a setting somewhere that I need to tweak other than the obvious ones?
TIA
Edited for spelling
open up the main Vol control panel using the std windows icon and make sure the ‘Wave’ volume is turned right up. the Fn key only adjusts the master volume
Mine does not seem that bad. Maybe I dont have as high standards though. I am used to bad quality sound.

It sounds OK, but I find it just isn’t loud enough. If there are two of you listening to something then you have to both be really quiet and if someone makes a small noise you miss a bit. It’s OK if you are just catching up on an iPlayer vid in a quiet room on full volume.
This is a known issue, my speakers are now quite good, my right speaker stopped working or when it worked to volume was lower than on the left side. I’m also waiting for a couple of replacement speakers that I will put in my self (same make + model). My guess is that some samples have come with speakers that are just not functioning properly. After fixing mine they are now working and I have no problem with the volume or sound quality.
Headphone sound is excellent imo only using a set of cheap philips headphone from argos, clean clear crisp and depp music 🙂
Can’t use speakers cause family will complain so fine for me
The speakers are pretty average lets face it. They’re the only thing I don’t like on the NC10. Listening with headphones is ok if you tweak the EQ settings in the Realtek panel
Thanks for the suggestion PanMan, it does improve things a bit, but still below what I am used to. Guess something to live with.
