Someone sat on my NC10!!!

Hi

First off, great community here for the NC10 which helped loads in my purchase…which was just two days ago!

I love this little thing, for the price and specs you can’t get much better. I’ve gone from a Dell XPS desktop replacement laptop to this tiny NC10…the screen is so much brighter and its nice to just lay in bed and use it lol

Anyway, last night I had my NC10 on my car seat and someone got in and sat on it!!! i kept my cool as I can’t get angry at her lol…checked it out after and all seemed fine. But done a closer inspection when I got home.

I think I may be being paranoid here but when I close the lid and press down on the back of the screen, like in between the two silver hinges for the screen, say if you were picking it up to hold it from the back, there is a creaking sound when you press down…now I never noticed this before but it may be a case I was trying to be observant and noticed it. and now its bothering me. 😛

So can you people let me know if you’ve got a creak back there and that this is normal, or whether this is a result of it being sat on. I’m just glad the screen still works!!

Mine doesn’t creak, so what you should check is the following:
Check the screen between the two hinges, anything out of the ordinary?
Remove the battery and check the chassi top/down part and make sure it is fastened all the way around.

Hi thanks, everything seems to be in place. I done the battery removal aswell

It creaks if you press the top lid down on the edge where there is a gap between the lid and the battery unit, in the area between the two silver hinges.

Unless other people confirm they get the same I won’t be able to tell if its not suppose to be happening unless I go to a store with one on display. But the stores near me didn’t have any display models when I bought, funny though cos they had them in stock and all the other netbooks were on display.
