Ok – so let me start by saying “I LOVE MY NC10”. What a Beautiful machine and Samsung did so much RIGHT! (I’ve got a nice Blue one and several office mates are jealous!)
That being said – I’ve only had two complaints (so far)
1. The touchpad is somewhat mediocre – although turning off “pinch” and fiddling with scrolling definitely helped. I think I just need to “tweak” things a bit more.
2. It seems to take a LONGGGGG time to fully shutdown (like 1 minute or more).
This is just annoying and I don’t understand why. I’ve tried scrubbing through the programs loaded and removing ones not necessary – but I still find the full shutdown to be very lengthy.
Just curious if others out there noticed this too? (and if anyone has solutions / suggestions – those are most welcomed!)
NOTE: I did do a full search on “shutdown” and didn’t see such a topic – but please advise if this is a “repost”.
Many thanks and happy NC10 computing!!

December 12, 2008 at 4:59 am #175087PanManMemberto be honest every XP machine I’ve had seems to take an age to shutdown (including the works PC I’m on at the moment) so I don’t think its a Sammy Specific issue
December 12, 2008 at 8:55 am #175079lozza69erMemberMine shuts down quicker with the newest BIOS update than it did before for some strange reason?
December 12, 2008 at 9:36 am #175078RsaeireMemberMy NC10 shuts down very fast; I’d say roughly 15 seconds.
Has anybody enabled to option to clear their pagefile on system shutdown; those of use who still have a pagefile that is?

Ok you know you are not allowed to say that unless you are going to share what mods you made…. mine shuts down pretty fast about 10-15 sec…December 12, 2008 at 6:51 pm #175080lozza69erMemberYeah, mine shuts down in 9-10 seconds.
December 12, 2008 at 8:56 pm #175082FreddyMemberGoogle after “shut down delay xp”, “wait to kill service xp” and things like this, I have made som modifications in the registry but I do not remember exactly all I’ve done. Two major registry edits makes the biggest difference though. The amount of programs you let running in the background also affects how fast you can shut down, I have very few apps installed that I let do this but I do have apps like “Two Finger Scroll”, “Samsung Battery Manager”, “Battery Status (very good program!)”.
Also I have shut down a whole lot of services that are hardly needed, I have written some about this in the forum so you can probably find it. When I think I cannot get much further with tweaking boot up time (now I manage to coldboot in just over 30s), shut down speed and maximizing battery life with ok settings I will post a complete guide of what to do in “General discussions”.
