MemberYeah, and I’m still stuck in limbo (I’m the originator of this thread). Currrently awaiting “head office” to decide what to do, as UPS have delivered mine to the wrong address. Really they should just send one out no questions asked (checking for blotches first of course!) – I need if before xmas (long train journey and the EeePC with 2hr batt life won’t cut it).
On the plus side, it seems as this thread’s progressed there are less reports of blotching, so perhaps it was a bad batch after all (or more likely, we’re now seeing a balanced thread as only the people with the issue tend to post in this type of thread)

As I said earlier, my netbook had a different kind of screen defect – like 15 plastic bubbles on the LCD. It looks like I sneezed on the monitor and can’t wipe it off. Maybe they’re rushing these things out with bad Q/A to meed the holiday demand.Newegg RMA for laptops will not be fun. Should take about 12-36 months.
[/quote1229726195]With ALL I just went through with Newegg and UPS losing my order initially I have gone from being a loyal and VERY loyal customer of theirs to NEVER BUY FROM THEM AGAIN!. Over 1 hour 3 times EACH on telephone hold listening to a recorded voice that drove me insane (ok, short trip…). My emails went unanswered 24 hours at a time and then I suspect from India s to the time, name of support rep etc. Then I went the CHAT route. Wait time 1 hour 18 minutes! I will NEVER, EVER even browse their website again, EVER! Just not worth it for me.
For me, Amazon is the way I will go. They took back my Aspire One with FULL 100% refund. I nearly fainted when I saw they never even dinged me 15%. UI won’t expect that again, but they took care of me and did so in less than 5 minutes. Which choice would ANY person make. only reason I paid more & went with Newegg, was Amazon sold out that day (back in stock 12 hours later darn it!), so I panicked, paid for tax and all just to get it and quick. Lucky me. Wonder if a flu shot would cure these blotches?
I must be nuts as i still LOVE the NC10. Warts, crap experience in purchase and all. Now if the wife lets me, I may buy a MAC 13″ in white just since I just watched an amazing video of the OS system in it. Plus, think it would be more willing to send this NC10 to Samsung for repair. Till I get another proper little laptop in my lap, this one stays here.December 19, 2008 at 10:52 pm #174946lucynethel

UPS left mine outside in the rain at NIGHT! Some kid stole it, I filed a claim, then some illegal (Mexican) alien Father rings my bell with this NC10 in a paper bag and soggy factory box! The box over that was gone. He spoke no English. Handed it to me and says, my son take, I fix him and ran. Thought I would report him to Immigration or? So here I am, wondering if UPS has lost it’s damned mind!I wonder if there should be a separate thread for “NOTIFICATION & RESOULUTION” of screen blotch problem or just leave it all right here so avoid fragmenting the thread? I refuse to send mine in till I see one single successful resolution to this flaw!

MemberSorry about your computer but….YES…UPS has lost it.mind! My husband lost his credit card. Called VISA and they said the would send a replacement overnite. It arrived next morning. UPS threw the cardboard envelope on the driveway in front of an open garage door – and then drove off. How’s that for security?

MemberI bought mine from Elara in Dublin, I bought one of those 20 black units which they first got to Ireland.
I checked just now using a white background (opening the windows xp notepad) and I was unable to see anything noticeable between F3 & F7. I checked from the distants and few different angles and nothing!
I had my brightness set to 4 bars.
I will not be taking further testing in different brightness or angles as I might then be able to see those and I know that if then I see them they will keep playing with my mind.December 20, 2008 at 8:32 pm #175004techno12

I f**king hate Samsung. So angry, brand wrecked, such rude and useless customer service.
And the frustrating thing for readers here is that I’ll never know if Digicare actually managed to ‘repair’ the blotches!!

Memberwell, I need to return mine to either newegg, or samsung. OR maybe this can be fixed somewhere else.
I don’t have blotches. I have specks….It looks as if the anti-glare coating clumped up and formed like 15 spots or hard bubbles on the screen. It looks like tiny wet droplets on the screen, blending/reflecting pixels together.
Newegg will just inspect it, then send it to Samsung anyway, so I think I’m gonna go the Samsung repair route. Sounds like it will be a hassle.
Maybe they’ll just need to replace some kind of outer layer surface. I wish I could do it myself somehow, or get it fixed locally.

MemberI just opened and set up my Blue NC10 today. I purchased it Dec 12th from Buy.com. When I registered it with Samsung today, a manufacture date of Nov 30th came up (I couldn’t find anything on the box itself). The screen looked fine to my eye. After reading this thread, I downloaded the monitor test. I don’t see any blotches nor any rough spots so I’m thanking my lucky stars.

MemberI still only see the blotch on this forum cause of the white background lol. Ive decided it doesn’t bug me enough to bother with having it fixed. I love my NC10…I wont part with it.

Membergot my blue one from dixons (online store) wed 17th, the date in the box is 14/11/2008 and i have no screen blotches.
tried it on a pure white background and from different angles, still couldn’t see anything, i have still got the factory fit plastic screen protector still in place but it shouldn’t make a difference.

MemberI bought my (black) NC10 from Laptops Direct on Dec 2, the carton flap date is 2008-11-05. It is a Christmas present, so didn’t fire it up until last night when the furore over screen blotching finally got to me, so succumbed!
I used Notepad as a white background and viewed from different different distances and angles at screen brightness levels from min to max, checking the screen, especially between F3 & F7.
Luckily and thankfully, I can report no screen blotching or pinching at the edges. However, if I’m being super-picky, viewing from lower angles, I think I can make out a greyish cloudy bar about 30 mm high across the lower edge of the screen. Certainly nothing to bother about. It may just be paranoia!!Chris B

MemberI got mine from Currys. It’s a black one, manufactured 30/10/2008 and I haven’t seen any screen problems during normal use. Ran the screentest application and didn’t spot anything on that either.

MemberJust woke up and thought MY blotches went away! Thought maybe as it was so cold overnight or something. Went & woke up my wife to show her as I was so HAPPY & EXCITED I just had to tell someone. It was at this point she reminded me I was sitting at my DESKTOP & looking at my 23″ screen LCD……..
Hey, you get old, you get tired, you get confused. But I sure was happy till I woke the old woman up!December 21, 2008 at 3:28 pm #174893Freddy
MemberI got mine in the beginning of November from Clove. No screen blotches.
