Dark circles on mine as well, two on the left side, 1/3 from the bottom, and a faint third in line with the others on the right side
December 13, 2008 at 3:20 am #174936lucynethelMemberI just hate to say this but I have all but decided to just let it be as is. Right up till my 1 year warranty is close to up. Unless I close my apps and LOOK at just a pure white background with nothing else on it, I never even see those nasty dark eyes following me. And therefore, wonder if maybe I should not even worry about it. I have no idea what it is or if it gets worse, but assume in the next year (IF I am patient?), they may develop a really NEAT new screen. One that may even have PRETTY eyes staring back at me? With long eyelashes and mascara even…. An old Veteran can only hope.
December 13, 2008 at 4:30 pm #174890SerendipMemberI’m sorry for all of you who have this, and am so thankful I don’t. I wonder if there is anything else different about those with the problem… case color, manufacture date… something.
I’ve used mine for several hours each day, minimum of about five or six hours, max I guess 12, and have had it for three weeks, so I think it’s getting a good workout. I’ve done all the driver and bios updates, and upgraded the ram, so it’s cycling on and off way more than twice each day.
That they showed at the store right out of the box makes me think it isn’t a burn-in issue, but… I’m so grateful for this forum!
December 13, 2008 at 4:58 pm #174928PsychNC10MemberI dont think I have these on my white one. If I do, its not enough to bother me
December 13, 2008 at 5:29 pm #174937lucynethelMemberMine is white. But has 2 black eyes “watching” me……
December 13, 2008 at 5:58 pm #174929PsychNC10MemberWhere are they supposed to be again? I really dont see anything..
December 13, 2008 at 6:17 pm #174902burndtjambMemberI don’t see any blotches on my white US NC10. I’m OCD and I would probably notice something like this if I did have it. I hope it’s not a problem that develops over time because I barely use my NC10 at the moment.
December 13, 2008 at 7:29 pm #174901ezmanMemberOMG, I was sitting here reading and feeling smug that mine didn’t have them, but now I see the two black eyes. For me it’s very very faint, probably not worth sending it back,. but will see how much it bothers me…
actually whoever said about standing back and looking at it is right, the blotches get darker.
This is going to be a costly manufacturing defect for Samsung I imagine…December 13, 2008 at 7:59 pm #174931mauwongMemberThis discussion has driven me to check and re-check my NC10 screen worrying about it. It’s almost funny in a frustrating way.

[/quote1229201080]Lower LEFT of screen. Roughly over F3 & F7 keys. Looking at me. just “STARING”…. Watching, waiting, wondering what I will do next. They are now MOCKING me. The eyes follow my every move. I am now under their power……
December 14, 2008 at 1:39 am #175010vanessa197676MemberI just got the blue on Thursday, and even paid for overnight shipping (was only $12).
I have the blotches, but I love my netbook so much that I don’t know if I want to send it to Texas to be repaired. I’m shocked that they don’t have a place here in the Chicago area as a service center.
I mean, I realize that Texas is a big technology player with HP, Dell, and now an Apple facility, but come on.
I wonder, if I wimp out on sending it back in the next 10 days, can I create a case for the same defect later down the line, before the warranty comes up?
December 14, 2008 at 2:28 am #174939lucynethelMemberI came up with their location for repair in MY (San Diego California) area as being:
INTELISOL, INC
1001 N.E. LOOP 820 SUITE 200
FORT WORTH, TX 76131 8007267864
8172305266 1152miles—-And it BOTHERS me this is just some 3rd party generic repair facility to ANYONE, leaning towards Toshiba best as I can tell? I will wait & see how this sorts out. Hope Samsung creates a brand new screen solution given time? Also my problem is becoming more noticeable just reading this website so expect I NEED it fixed. Hope to wait till my 1 year is nearly up IF I can stand it?
December 14, 2008 at 2:44 am #175011vanessa197676MemberYeah, that’s the one I’m supposed to send mine to also.

December 14, 2008 at 11:11 am #174975MiloMemberI have it (noticed it quite early on) but it’s very faint and only shows up on an all white background. You don’t notice it in general surfing, going through photos, etc. I don’t think I can be bothered to send the unit back. In many ways it’s less bad than a hotpixel or something like that which would really annoy me.
Once up a time I would have been quite OCD about something like this but I seem to have mellowed a bit these days. A bit like the substandard audio (in my opinion), it’s a quirk of the machine and I live with it as I like it in all other respects.
Even typing this now I can’t see the ‘eyes’ as there is other stuff on the screen. So I’m not going to bother about it.
December 14, 2008 at 1:15 pm #175017JezHMemberMy new NC10 bought yesterday has the blotches in exactly the same place as others are reporting (i.e over F3 and F7). I noticed very early on, and I’m currently wondering what to do with it. As I bought it locally, I’ll probably take it back, but I’m concerned that if it’s a bad batch the replacement will be the same.
Has anybody had the screen blotches successfully repaired by Samsung yet?
