Anyone else notice that the NC 10 blue and white are listed on the Samsung web page as coming with Vista Business pre-installed. Must be a typo. Also, you can access all of the firmware and software updates from this page.

Interesting…I wonder if they will allow us that have already bought it to upgrade to Vista for free?(I hope since I just ordered mine Saturday!)
December 2, 2008 at 7:45 pm #173315Richard TMemberWell it’s definetly a typo…Check prices of xp home v vista business huge price difference so it must be wrong
December 2, 2008 at 8:56 pm #173318BlackWhizzMemberWhen it is, i want a upgrade kit 🙂 The GMA runs Aero and i wanna try it 😛
December 2, 2008 at 9:21 pm #173312TheRingMemberoem prices to public between the two vary by about 30 pounds depending on supplier, so to major manufactures you could minus the vat and still take off a huge chunk for mass bulk purchaisng and licensing agreements. so the difference could be quite minimal but id go for a typo error for sure on this but heres hoping
December 2, 2008 at 9:26 pm #173313TheRingMemberinteresting that the uk site states xp, the usa site vista business, but if you download the pdf from us site it states xp so definetly looks like a typo

On pc world there is £100 pounds of there abouts differnce,,,December 2, 2008 at 10:05 pm #173314TheRingMemberindeed, pcworld sell upgrade or full package. OEM software is a lot cheaper and sold to system builders. For example i purchased this week a oem version of 32 bit vista home for 79 pounds, the full retail is at least 140 for the same software. the only difference with oem is its tied to one pc and no fancy packaging. if the motherboard blew and i had to use another model and changed another componment i may have to contact microsoft to get it to activate as it creates a serial dependant on the components you have.
so manufacturers would use oem not retail hence the differnec is not so great

“Samsung recommends Windows Vista® Business for Business Computing.
Samsung recommends Windows Vista® Home Premium for Personal Computing.”If you look on the right side under Features it say
“Key specifications* Operating System : Genuine Windows XP Home SP3 “
December 14, 2008 at 7:10 pm #173319SzabsMemberI have no idea why anyone would want to use Vista on a netbook. GMA runs aero fine? That’s a joke… If you want fancy effects and stuff use ubuntu. It’s a netbook, you probably wont play much games on it besides there are a lot of good games for linux as well.

A few users on this and other forums have installed Vista and experienced no performance issues; even with Aero enabled. From what I know about both OSes, however, I am sure that in a direct comparison between Vista SP1 and XP SP2/3, there would be a difference in opening/closing applications and other benchmarking methods, but for the most part, users running Vista have been happy with their results.December 15, 2008 at 9:59 am #173310jezMemberLike Rsaeire says, NC10 users have been using Vista OK. I think it is down to personal preference and would graciously steer chat away from my OS is better than your OS threads. Pointing out the advantages of one over the other is constructive and I think valuable to readers but we all know how these discussions can go ;)!
