I purchased this Samsung DVD writer based on the recommendation of some people here in the forum. However, upon reading the requirements on the box, it says the CPU should be a Pentium IV 2.0 ghz. I haven’t hooked it up to my Sammy because I know it doesn’t have this powerful CPU.
I’d like to hear from people who have this DVD writer and how it is working on the Sammy. Could this potentially cause an over burden to the CPU since it is not up to the requirements of the DVD writer? Looks like a nice device, but I don’t want to chance doing any damage to my computer or making it work harder than necessary.
Thanks.
The system requirements are relating to the software which comes with the drive. It should be fine to attach the drive, also I’m pretty sure the software will work fine as well (though you don’t need it if all you want to do is read disks).
EDIT: Additionally the Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz (the processor in the NC10) should be a bit faster than an Intel Pentium IV 2.0GHz.
EDIT 2: I have that drive attached to my NC10 at the moment and it works fine, though I don’t use the bundled software.
