I’ve just purchased a samsung S5 NP530U4C-S01ES (14′ / intel core i5 3317u / 8gbRAM / nvidia GT620M / 24gb iSSD / 1tb HDD / DVDrw )I’ve seen many different “HDD caddys” to replace a SATA DVD drive for a HDD, like for example this one.
Has anybody succesfully replaced a samsung Series 5 DVD drive with one of those “HDD caddys/ 2nd SATA to SATA frame”?
The DVD drive in my laptop appears as a TSSTCORP_CDDVDW_SU-208AB , and it’s a SATA drive.I’ve found the size of this 14′ Samsung S5 DVD drive, it’s 9’5mm.(not like the standar 12.7mm-thick / high optical bay included in most laptops)..and I’ve found there are some SATA2SATA devices of this size, like this one:
but I still haven’t found any info related to somebody using it in a 14 inches Samsung Series 5
and I’m also looking for a good/fast/cheap 128gb SDD to also replace the mechanic 1tb HDD included.
another question is about external graphic cards. (my samsung NP530U includes a dedicated nvidia GT 620M, but I’m interested in using an external more powerfull GPU).
I’ve seen different solutions using an HDMI port from the laptop to an external GPU, like for example this one:
External Graphics Card – Add a eGPU video card to your laptop PE4H PE4L – YouTube
and I would like to know if there is any posibility of using an external graphic card in this laptop.
So if anybody got any info related to these topics..
Thanks for your time
