Hi, i have had my laptop about 15 months, usually if im on the laptop and the battery is dying there is an indication of 10 percent remaining, if i fail to plug the charger in before the computer dies, the screen wont come on unless it is charged up for a bit and the battery has to be taken out, sometimes i even have to turn it off and then back on again. This has occured since i’ve had the computer..
Now today, i was on my laptop like anyother day, the battery life indicator popped up and said i had 7 percent of battery left, a few minutes later the battery died. I plugged the charger in for a hour, came back unplugged, attempted to turn it on and the computer comes on but the screen remains black. I have tried everything, nothing happens, i unplugged the battery several times and put it back in but nothing happens. All the lights that indicate the computer is on are on but the screen remains black. I called samsung tech support but the lady didn’t wasnt very helfpul, we tried a few things and it still didn’t work so she recommended i take it to the geek squad.
I really dont have a lot of money and cant afford to pay alot to get it fixed.
I found a computer repair shop in brooklyn and the guy said it was the motherboard and hes almost positive but in order to be completly sure he has to open the cpu up and that will cost me 50 bucks and another 150 for the labor , then turned around and offered me the same cpu for 280 bucks, so i dont know if i should trust him or not..If anyone can help please advise!!
November 23, 2011 at 3:17 pm #220115MrsDohertyMemberWe have a 15 month old Samsung N150 and have the same issue. One of our employees was playing a game and the battery died. When he plugged it in and tried to turn it on, the screen was black. I have it plugged in now, and the green indicator light that says it is plugged in is on, as well as the blue “Power” indicator, meaning the laptop is currently “On”….but the screen is black. I can’t see paying hundreds of dollars for repair on a laptop that only cost $300 new.

If it sounds a similar issue, then can you get into your BIOS (with )?If so, try reseting your BIOS (I think), then reboot.

That was worth a shot, but I turned the power button on, it lit up blue and then I pressed F2 and nothing happened. I held it down, let up, kept pressing it and nothing still. It’s odd, because there is absolutely no noise coming from the thing. No fan or other normal start up noises that a laptop usually makes.
Thanks for the info though, if you hear of any other issues or solutions like this, please let me know.

Could be something simple like the on/off switch right the way through to the motherboard.Try powering off and disconnecting from the charger/mains. Remove the battery and leave it out for 15 mins or so, Reconnect and then see if it turns on. I seem to recall reading somewhere that someone had a weird startup fault where this seemed to help, but I couldn’t find the post.

You could try a full cmos reset – http://www.sammymobile.com/forum/threads/9287-cmos-password-NC10 this “may” help. As the RTC is usually under the ram module this will also re-seat the ram in case thats the problem.

I’ve never tried this, but does it work if you remove the battery and then try to run from mains? But if the screen is staying black it sounds like a hard fault I think.

Worked like a charm for me with the same problem on a Netbook NP-NC110
Thanks for the advice and link.
