I brought a couple of NC10’s as Christmas Presents for my 2 son’s then my missus brought one for my birthday and I notice that my NC10 has a SAMSUNG HM160HI but is a SATA 1.5Gb/s whilst my son’s are Hitachi & Western Digital SATA 3.0Gb/s drives.
I was wondering why the difference and which would the better drive. Is the Samsung inferior as it is SATA1.5Gb/s?
SATA 1.5Gb/s is a slower connection than SATA 3Gb/s, however as it is generally the hard drive which is the bottleneck and not the interface, there should be no performance difference due to the interface speed.
The SATA 1.5Gb/s should actually be beneficial as it should consume less power.

Thanks for the clarifiaction, to take this a bit further are you saying that all NC10’s have a SATA 3Gb/s interface so when or if I upgrade my hard drive I can fit a SATA 3Gb/s drive.
The motherboard will be the same in all the standard NC10’s, so I would expect the one with the 1.5Gb/s drive will work fine with a 3Gb/s drive.
