Hi,
Although I have a similar question posted that is more about the restore process so I’m posting another question about recovering from scratch.
If I wipe my entire drive is there a procedure out there on how to set up the NC10 with the hidden partition, then C&D and have the restore utility installed to work.
I would like to know how to set that up. WIth the Aspire One it was a challenge and you had to have windows loaded on C to make the restore utility work from the boot up process. I’m wondering if someone has sorted out the process for doing the same with the NC10.
Thanks for any help.

The disk is as far as I can tell just a standard Windows XP install with a couple of minor modifications, the second disk contains the drivers. It does not create the hidden partition and appears to miss a few other things such as the custom bootloader.
With the provided disks I don’t think you are able to restore the hidden partition, or restore the machine back to how it was when you received it.
January 8, 2009 at 3:37 pm #178892crazystMemberThanks. I found the same thing this morning. I’m looking into this more and using PTEDIT32.exe to changed the partition type from 12 to 07. That at least makes it so that it shows up in Windows. So from there I plan to make a complete copy of the partition.
I’ve basically got windows setup the way I want it with no real applications installed yet. What I would like to do is make an image of C now and store it on the recovery partition. I realize I could do recovery a number of different ways but being able to hit F4 on boot and recover is what I want to do but I don’t want the initial backup because that really doesn’t do me any good. If the machine is that screwed I’ll just restore from scratch on my own.
So now I’m trying to figure out how to allow the backup utility to backup the C drive to the recovery partition again but first I think I need to go into that partition and remove the original backup. I can see the image but I also know there’s a file or two that have the restore record in it that also needs to be removed.
Do have some info that might help me with this or know of a thread that has info on this?
Thanks for the response,
