Re:Samsung Netbook NC 10 No Wireless Broadband Connectivity Whatsoever? Yes/NO
This Netbook cannot connect to the Internet using 3G Wireless Modem Interface or the Stick in
Plastic Thing Called The “Dongle”ONLY Free Wi Fi in McDonaldsand at home etc and Bluetooth.
Someone said that Samsung where shipping a new version of Netbook with 3G Modem Built In obviously no good for an English Speaker having Windows in Polish one of the hardest languages in the World to learn.
When will Samsung bring out a decent Netbook with fast 3G Broadband connectivity will there be a Price breakthrough OR will a CopyCat competitor emerge in the market?
For the timebeing what a good competitor to Samsung Netbook NC10 that ALSO HAS 3G
CONNECTIVITY not trying to rudethere folk with caps its just there is so much choice and lies out there:)Would I be better off with a laptop with a built in Webcam larger and heavier I know lol
Any suggestions.
Thanks,
Samantha

I’m using a Sprint (US) 3G USB modem (dongle) with absolutely no problems. Download speeds over 1000 Mb/sec with uploads around 400 Mb/sec with a good signal. It’s not your netbook. If you could provide some more details perhaps we could help you diagnose your problem.
December 6, 2008 at 10:59 pm #174102BlackWhizzMemberThe NC10 hasnt built in hardware for 3g/HDSPA connectivity. Thats true, but you can enable it by USB dongles and other shizzle. Im not into that kind of stuff, but you’ll find out i think.

Anyway, you shouldn’t have any problems using an external USB connected 3G modem (“dongle”) with the NC10 but as you correctly state it does not have a 3G modem built into it.
Depending on where you live and how you intend on using it, there have been very good reports about using the NC10 with a USB 3G modem.

December 7, 2008 at 7:41 am #174103SzabsMemberAt first I thought i’m drunk or switched to a chinese forum and used google to translate…
NC10 comes with webcam, what are you talking about?
USB modems work. Only the built-in one on ubuntu doesn’t.Since I’m a linguist though I haven’t graduated yet, I can tell you that Polish is totally not the hardest language to learn, it’s not even in the top10 for a native english speak. Try Hungarian or Tabassaran. Both will drive you nuts 🙂

*3G connectivity is possible with a dongle, later models will have it built in. You’ll have to wait ’til 2009 or buy something else if this is a deal breaker for you.
*Availability and cost of dongles is going to depend on where in the world you live.
*The NC10 has a webcam built in. It’s OK.
* There are plenty of competitors to chose from, this site is focused on the NC10 so you are welcome to ask questions but I know very little about other netbooks! Try somewhere likehttp://www.umpcportal.com for a wider range of netbook news.
*The pros and cons of the NC10 are well discussed, I don’t think anyone is lying about what it is or isn’t!
*Netbooks fulfil a niche and they won’t be suitable for everyone’s needs.Any more questions then let us know 🙂
