Hello everyone. I will be receiving my NC10 today via UPS. Has anyone removed Mc Afee from their computer and installed another anti-virus program without having any problems. I have Mc Afee on my Dell mini 9 and do not like it.
Thanks for any input in advance.
Rob
Yeah I think most people here have probably removed it by now! I’ve put Avast (free version) on and tweaked the services within it a little to optimise it. I used to use AVG but find it a little resource-hungry since version 8.
Once uninstalled you should download and run the following tool, as it clears out all the remnants of McAfee that the regular uninstaller leaves behind:

Cheers,

There are instructions/link to a tool to remove McAfee in first post of the thread:
Think you have successfully removed McAfee Antivirus, think again…

As for me, I removed it and installed Sophos instead.
Thanks all for your help. Received today and sucessfully removed mc Afee . Had copy of new norton 2009 and installed it. Thanks again.
Removed the McAfee 90 day trial from my new NC10 Blue and have installed Avast, I’ve been using PCs for years and run a variety of antivirus packages – McAfee, Norton and Kaspersky. This is actually the first time I’ve tried a free one!
Anyway, Avast has been running for a couple of days now without any problem thus far so fingers crossed – may end up saving me some money 🙂
… and used the link here to completely clear out McAfee so thanks for that.
