Reinstalling Windows on NC10

Hi,

I am new to this forum and not sure if this is in the correct category.

Anyway, I have corrupted files in my computer and have to keep my finger on the FN in order to type otherwise i get all different letters/characters when typing. To alleviate this I am going to format and reinstall Windows XP on my NC10.

Can anybody recommend a External CD/DVD Drive that would be suitable for this installation? I have previously purchased a Samsung Slim DVD Drive (USB Connection) and found this very poor as their isn’t enough power via the USB. I am looking for a unit that has additional power adapter.

Why not installing from a USB Key, no need for external drive

I have purchased or tried various types of external drives and found them mostly usable on about anything. Lately I have gotten inexpensive (CHEAP) drives on eBay for less that $50 shipped and have about as good an experience as a high dollar HP DVD Burner. The main difference is the AC adapter. Drives with adapter can be found at competitive prices there. Check local computer outlets, the drive you now own may be usable with the addition of a 5 volt DC adapter. 😉 JohnP

F4 on boot up. Follow the instructions.

How can you make a USB stick bootable?
I have the system recovery media cd that came with my nc10…

but is there a way to copy it onto a usb stick and boot off it to reinstall?
