Used the credit card trick to get the ram cover off. It worked perfectly, had the cover off in less than a minute. Ram upgrade was a snap. Thanks to Jimbo for the tip.
Removing the ram hatch cover was a bit tricky… its really well secured with two tabs that snap into place half way down each side. I thought it was going to break in two! A good tip is to pull it up enough to get your fingers half way down the hatch from the other side and exert a little force from that point. With a loud snap it was off, nothing damaged and with new memory fitted it snapped back in securely.
Did anyone else strip the RAM cover screw.
Well, I did. I was so upset.
I got angry and took a small razorblade and popped up the panel from the part of the cover furthest from the screw. In other words, right above the small tabs in the memory cover slot that you insert first when putting it back on. So, I pop up both sides and then slide the memory cover 90 degrees. Mind you, the screw is still in place.
Pop in my Corsair 2GB/667MHz module and it worked pefect. Popped the RAM cover back in place and off I went.
I also noticed an eBay auction for the NC10 where the seller stated “one of the screws is stripped” LOL I bet it’s the RAM slot.
you mean where the thread on the screw head comes off? Now you mention it yes that did happen a little, not to the extent that it didn’t come out but it’s not the same as it was!
I invested in a little set of mini screwdrivers when I got my first netbook (a Wind). You had to remove the full back panel to fit memory to the Wind, no handy slot like we have on the NC10. Really good little set, could be the best £1 I’ve ever spent (it’s amazing the stuff you can get in Pound Land!).
I bought 2gig kingston
