Just bought my wife the sammy NC10 and she has a cushion on her knee with the sammy sitting on it, will this cause a problem with the air vents?
The NC10 runs pretty cool, the fan may spin up more though.
I often have mine running on a soft surface e.g. cushion, bed etc.. and have had no problems.
Thanks, good to know it won’t overheat
Should be fine – mines always used on the bed or on a pillow – not over heated yet!
I feel a poll coming on… “where do you use your NC10?”!
I find my vents are handy when sitting on an unheated train. Keeps the hands warm. You need to work hard though to keep CPU up and the heat coming 😉

hehe good idea! I’ll set a main site poll!
I use mine mainly in the living room on my lap! or in bed. If I am surfing I put it in silent mode and don’t worry about the vents to much tho I tend to keep it on my lap so at least half of them are not blocked! If I am running it in normal mode and playing a 3d game I do my best not to block teh vents and pop it on a book.
The way I see it is that its a PC and all PCs get hot. Those vents are there for a reason so do my best to keep then unblocked tho i don’t worry about it to much. I never have the blower on the left hand side blocked. I want that hot air out of there!!!
