Hello all, Just got my sammy yesterday and i was wondering is there a way to make a flash drive bootable as the recovery disk? i dont have an external dvd drive and would think that this method would be much better. I’ll be trying to install vista and other os’s and i’m sure i’ll have to use those discs soon haha.
I was kind of wondering the same, but putting the recovery disc onto a partition on the hdd…..
Maybe then configuring the boot.ini to somehow read that drive….
that would be genius as well
Personally, I wouldn’t bother 🙂
You can always recreate the Windows XP installation using the boot disk and WinSetupFromUSB as explained in the following guide:
In trying to triple boot XP, Windows 7, and Ubuntu – I had scrambled the boot manager on my brand new Samsung NC10 and could only access 7 and Ubuntu.
By using the System Recovery Media (aka WinXP Home) and the System Software Media (aka drivers) CDs and this excellent guide, I was able to recreate my basic XP system.
I then reinstalled 7 and Ubuntu and everything is working like a dream.
