Much against my better judgement I complied with Microsoft setup recommending use of the US keyboard for the Sammy.
Could not type @ to register McAffee to protect computer during finish of set up.
Should the number lock Fn plus F11 create a number keyboard that should insert @ with Alt and 064?
Went back and altered the Microsoft keyboard to United Kingdom but still cannot type @ into McAffee
Could it be the McAffee panel is being obstructive?
Any ideas
Thanks
Mod. edit: Subject-line fixed.
Heck started to do the monkey act and Shift and 2 did it!!!! :lol
RTFM providing you can read miniscule print and see the dark blue numbers on certain letters of the keyboard you should be able to realise that the Fn key creates a numeric keyboard using these letters. Oh for the days of a proper printed manual. Should be grateful it is in English and not Korean 🙂
does that mean the problem is sorted?!
Thanks for asking 🙂
Well the @ key on the keyboard does not type @ !and so it inconvenient to have to use alternative double key strokes.
Haivng to use the shortcut.
It is a pity that there is a printed manual of all the commonsense safety procedure in using the laptop but you have to rely on the miniscule pages of the manual included on the hard drive for all the essential operational things.
Yeah the supplied manual did appear to be just a generic “laptop” manual that they have bundled in. Great for learning how to sit up straight and all that (as I type slumped under my desk).
Have you seen the manual supplied on disc? It is also downloadable from the Samsung site. There is a link somewhere.
That manual is written for the NC10 and has much more useful info in it. The only other thing worth looking at is the Windows localisation settings. Make sure it is set to English (US) or (UK) etc depending on what you want.
It still sounds like your Default input language is set incorrectly to me.
Have you done the following?
Go to Control Panel
Open Regional and Language Options
Languages Tab
Click Details
Then select English (United Kingdom) as the Default input language.
