Hi guys,
I finally got round to installing Ubuntu on my NC10 today.
Used Unetbootin and downladed version 8.10 of Ubuntu.
urrently trying to resolve wireless driver issue and following the steps on https://help.ubuntu.com/community/NC10.
When I enter sudo apt-get install linux-backports-modules-intrepid I get an error saying couldn’t find package.
Do I have to download the Madwifi driver? If so, where do I get it, how do I get it on my NC10 with no wireless (hard wired connection maybe?) and where do I save it?
Apologies for all the Qs, bit of a linux noob!
Cheers,

Needed to plug NC10 into wired network to download os updates, then everything else worked fine!

Got Opera and Firefox installed, also Thunderbord for mail – sharing the profile with Windows XP so regardless of which OS I boot into, I can still check and send emails!
Liking Ubuntu, but need to gen up on the basics as I feel very much the noob.
Watched some video thru Totem last night and after downloading a coupl eof codecs, everything went swimmingly.
Fixed my wireless issue (the one you get after first install) and now have to sort the internal speaker bug when plugging headphones in.
Moving to the dark side bit by bit….

Glad to see it went well for you after your initial problem. This week I’m putting Ubuntu on mine *cross fingers*

The site http://www.pendrivelinux.com/ is excellent and is pretty easy to follow.
I had to disable the wifi driver and follow the install instructions for Madwifi from an italian site, but it worked ok.
I can’t quantify it but I don’t think it’s so good, not at fast as the wifi on XP.
The screen has artifacts when starting various apps, so there an issue with the driver for that.
Couldn’t get Amarok to play. Icons too big. Mouse pad control too sensitive.Firefox would install from scripts on ubunto site (libstdc++5 dependency), so I use manual install, but teh graphics/fonts look crappy.
So I gave up as it was only a pen drive install, will have a go with Mandriva as their distro is always pretty good.
This might all be for nothing though as I’ve read somewhere that Ubuntu are bringing out at version tailored to netbooks. I hope they give it a good test on the NC10 first.
Also, would be brilliant if Samsung would allow you to boot from the SD card reader. I didn’t try as I read you couldnt’?

PS XP on the NC10 is brilliant, what a great machine.
