MemberI had a blue one on order from Dixons, but got fed up with waiting when they started saying things like they were sure that the delivery from Samsung had arrived but they didn’t know where in the warehouse it was, so couldn’t guarantee when mine would be dispatched.
So I Googled up the direct number of a local Currys Digital store and the assistant told me which branch near me had stock, list price £329. I drove there and listened to the chap tell me that they didn’t price match Dixons because they had the overhead of shops and so on, then offer me £320, £310, try to sell me insurance and finally said OK, he’s do it for £299.
I’m very happy!

MemberWell done for giving haggling a go! Reminds me of this show except Dom would the go on to ask for a box of chocolates and a bunch of flowers to take home to the wife. He’d usually get it too!

Memberway to go man.
seriously, if i wasn’t lazy, i would have a haggle fest in some of these high street electronics stores. most of the people working there don’t have a scooby doo what the hell they are selling you half the time.i remember i spent 20 minutes explaining to a guy in my local sony centre how 1080p is impossible on an lcd panel with only 1366×768 physical pixels. he didnt seem to understand and his entire argument was that when you selected the input is says “1080p” on the screen.
things like this seriously anger me.

MemberJust been to Currys in Sheffield. They said they would have a black tomorrow, but wouldn’t price match.
I wanted a blue and don’t want to pay more than £300, so it was no deal.
Incidentally, I wonder why John Lewis aren’t stocking the Samsung NC10?

MemberThe prices at Play just shot up to £329 (were £299 yesterday)…. was looking to get one for my friend – she wants one for Xmas. Managed to find some in stock at Dixons (the blue ones of course – have seen them in the flesh – lovely metallic looking things!) and got them before cashback at £293 a piece (bought 2 one for me too) with cashback through Cashback Rewards that should knock another £6 or so quid off each one – so less than £290 a pop. I was going to wait until nearer xmas but the prices only seem to be going up and the stock will be flying off the shelves – it seems all the suppliers (Dabs, Play etc) are all lifting their prices to refelect the demand for the little gem! (Plus sterling going to hell in a hand cart!)
Will let you know when they arrive.
