MemberJust saw a post on a French eeepc blog about the upcoming online game from id software, QuakeLive, which looks well suited for netbooks. Currently in closed beta, it will be free when it goes public.
The blurb below is in French but there is a short video of QuakeLive… running on a sammy, no less :

MemberI’ve been interested in this and also Battlefield Heroes for a while. Both for my desktop and netbook.
I entered myself into the Beta program ages ago but never got invited 🙁
http://www.quakelive.com/Rest assured I will be playing and reviewing both of these free to play games on the NC10 as soon as possible :)! I am a big fan of FPS games, although mostly the Unreal series, sadly winning a few tournaments in my miss-spent youth ;)!
I’m normally here if anyone plays UT2k4 still.

MemberAsk me what you want to know about QuakeLive – I don’t know exactly what all I can say due to NDA, but I can tell you it runs nicely on the NC10 with the right settings.

MemberYah, it is – honestly not sure why it’s taking so long for them to beta test it, I just got in recently.
@neo – CoD5 is actually a good game.January 7, 2009 at 9:26 pm #178859neo
Membertried cod5 and imho it plays too much like cod3, yes it does use the cod4 gfx engine so looks good but it’s made by treyach and not infinity ward, many players that i know have sold or given away cod5 and gone back to cod4 🙂

MemberI bought COD5 in the Steam Jan sales (Bioshock £3!). It’s my first COD game actually – I’m enjoying it. I probably won’t play it beyond rgw single player and some multi player Zombies!
Yep QL is based on Q3 but with some graphics improvements. I bet the hardcore Q3 players are looking forward to pissing on us newbies when we all pile in! I’m hoping it won’t be too hard to pick up!

MemberYeh i’m looking forward to Quake Live too. I think it might be a popular choice for the ‘netbook gamer’ and I expect loads from this forum may turn up on there. Who’s up for thrashing some Wind users hehehe

MemberYes I was addicted to Quake 2 online a long time ago. My clan [MKC] started in the Wireplay league and then moved over to Barrys World. I played as [MKC]Axe
