MemberPoll: How fast do you boot up your NC10? I mean from _cold_ boot, not from standby or hibernate.
(mine boots up in 30-31s now)November 30, 2008 at 6:59 pm #172807hef

Memberboot from cold? I use hibernate most of the time, which takes about 20s.

MemberIt’s me that don’t understand how the poll works, I only added > 60s once….
Please use one of them, if anyone uses the first one, then please continue using that one.[quote1228071832=hef]

MemberThis will surely depend on installed apps and services and can only really apply to a new nc10 which would be technically irrelevent?
He/she who installs less and defrags more will surely be quicker?
Of course, you can create a secondary (or more) Hardware Profile (such as a gaming one) to shunt a bit more boot and operational speed from the NC10 by removing as many unrequired Window’s Services as you like from the profile.

MemberI thought my boot was fast when I got it down from 180 seconds to 90 seconds. How exactly are people getting a boot of 30 seconds? Do you have any anti-virus or firewall software opening at startup?
November 30, 2008 at 7:40 pm #172812WilliamYZF
MemberMine takes about 80 seconds from the press of the button. I have only installed MS Office, Zonealarm and reduced the number of items next to the clock.
I concur with a comment above It really depends what loaded on startup so apart from bragging rights for the fastest its meaningless really.
Out of the box I bet they were all the same LOL.

MemberEven IF you install a lot of programs (like I have done myself), this doesn’t mean that the boot into Windows should take that much longer. You just have to get into the registry, msconfig, autoruns and services so that the installed programs doesn’t slow down the boot process…

[/quote1228076877]So if we all did that we would all be back to almost out of the box boot times. Perhaps I am missing the point of the poll.

MemberAlmost yes, but not quite. I have posted in the forum of some things you can do to get the boot time down.

MemberHow on the earth do you get booted under 30s?
Mine certainly takes longer than 60s.

MemberTHIS is what this poll is about 🙂 Ways to get those fast boot times. I myself have not been able to get under 30s, I get just over 30s though. Fast enough but to get it under 30s would be even more nice 🙂

MemberI understand it can be hard to go through every single thing done to your new NC10 to make it run extra fast, to get that extra oopmh form your system and to get your boot time down, but can the users who have their boot time in and around 30 seconds, please advise as to the main things they did in order to get their boot times so low?
