MemberAs soon as Jan 1 2009 is past and UPS quits taking so much time off, I am sending mine it to Texas (I live in California) to be repaired. I am curious is ANYONE has had it accomplished yet, and if so, how long it took, what did they do etc?

MemberI also curious about this, and what they actually do. Do they actually fix it or send out a refurbed NC10 like many companies do? I have OCD with my electronic and if I get one and it has the blotches, sending it back scares me because every time I get things back that way it looks like they dropped it in the road or something. Comes back with small scratches everywhere.

MemberThis is why I waited to try living with these blotches. This computer is PERFECT as it sits this minute. All EXCEPT the damned blotches….

MemberI have the blotches but they are not pronounced and don’t bother me at all. When I first opened the sammy I was looking for them since I was aware of the issue beforehand but couldnt find them. A few days later I can see them sometimes on a white background when the angle between the viewing direction and the screen is smaller than 45 deg but that is so unlikely and the blotches are so invisible that I am not going to return it for ‘repair’ at ll.

MemberI’m hoping that by the time they ship black NC10s to the US they’ll have fixed the problem. Small chance though I bet.

MemberI just ordered my NC10 on Amazon and it is supposed to arrive this Wednesday. I hope I don’t get a unit with one of the dreaded screen blotches! If I do, I will simply send it back to Amazon for a refund.

MemberI have one of the original batches of white NC10s (the same batch as lucynethel), and do NOT have the blotches. There’s no reason to presume you will have them. And yes, I have (neurotically) checked repeatedly – they simply aren’t there on my NC10. (I am SO thankful for this good Karma that came my way!)

MemberYour poll needs a bucket for votes people can cast so they can see results. Like “I never sent it in or had blotches” etc.

MemberWell since was directed ONLY to those who DO have blotches and then asking the outcome……Didn’t do that. I am sending mine back to a 3rd party repair facility in Texas that Samsung has directed me to next Monday after this holiday crap is over. UPS takes more days off than God so I want NO extra delays…….And NOT happy about some lowest bidder NON Samsung repair shop doing the work myself either!

MemberMine is home with a completely new screen. looks fine. Screen hinge is MUCH looser. Wish I new how to tighten it…. Installed Windows 7. Even with just the 1 GIG Ram is screams now. Will put my 2 GIGS RAM back in tomorrow. What a pain restoring everything…..

MemberHow is the rest of the unit? Scratch and mark free or did they use it as a frisbee?

MemberFLAWLESS! I am actually shocked. And OH so grateful. For all the hassle, I give Samsung an A+ for the expense they went to stepping up with this. The 2 day each way ship etc. Plus, the girl I spoke to twice on the phone, was lightning quick with email confirms about our conversations. In fact, the emails came through WHILE WE WERE SPEAKING. Just can’t get much quicker than that. She was smart, SUPER nice, and very helpful. Kinda pisses me off to have nothing left to bitch about. Hey wait, the wife just got home……

MemberMine had slight blotches, noticed them after a couple of weeks (end of November) and didn’t really bother me (perhaps until I saw all the posts about it lol).Anyway, I rang Samsung support and they booked it in for repair. I dropped it off at a repair centre here in London a couple of weeks ago and a week ago picked it up with brand new perfect screen! Very happy with the way they handled it all… and no more niggling doubts about any part of my NC10 🙂

MemberJust sent mine in yesterday with the dreaded blotches! Recieved it Tuesday from Costco so if it doesn’t come back in Pristine shape I can return it to Costco and try again. The 90 day return policy rocks! No restocking fee either! Will repost once it returns.
