MemberI’ve installed Picasa 3 and up to now it works really well. I also thought about installing Elements but thought better of it.

MemberWhy not? Photoshop works perfectly fine on it – I have CS3 installed.

MemberMy thoughts would be to install a lighter graphics package – as good as the NC10 is I’m nt sure anyone will want to be doing any “professional” photo manipulation on it. Simply because of the screen size. The graphics guys where I work normally have 20+ inch super colour calibrated monitors!
If anyone is looking for a decent free light package then can I suggest paint.net

MemberPaint.net is nice, very simple to use. I’d also suggest GIMP for Windows

MemberThe reason to use Photoshop on the NC10 though is because of familiarity due it being the tool of choice that we use on our other machines and the fact that it does run well. I have it installed in case I have a need to edit something when I am out in the field but otherwise I would typically do it on my bigger laptop or desktop.

[/quote1227451289]Agreed! And for a lot of people I think that’s what they need. I have friends struggling to get their heads round photo shop and I just think if you only use 1% of the functionality just use paint – it’s free! If you are into proper pro image editing then obviously paint doesn’t come close!

MemberI agree, i use photoshop and have taken a while to master the basics but for simple on the fly editing of non essential files i tend to use one or two of the freebies

MemberPicasa is confusing. You can’t crop, it makes copies of everything, and it replaces your quick preview with something else.
I don’t like it.
It’s like the iTunes of photos. I think the interface is slick but confusing and the functionality is limited. I will give the redeye removal tool props though. That works great.

MemberI love the quick preview app compared to the Vista app. Honestly, I crop in Photoshop – but I do all of my photo touchups in there.

[/quote1229412430]Same here!
I gave up on Picasa when I was trying to reduce image size. Couldn’t find it (could be my mistake).
Will give Paint.net a try now…

MemberI use Picasa as my album software of choice – but always edit with paint.net
Are there any other good free album packages? I have also tried the live one: http://get.live.com/photogallery/overview

I recommend using FastStone Image Resizer – just search google for it. Works great for batch resizing, and it also adds the option to the right-click menu
