MemberAs soon as i got my NC10 I installed Vista and the drivers i’ve found on this forum. Everything went smooth until i got this bsod
it doesn’t show up often, like once in 2 weeks and it doesn’t show up in xp (yeah, i downgraded because of this problem), so i guess it’s not a hardware fault, but something related to the drivers.
I updated the RAM to 2gb, but I ran memtest for the whole night without any problem detected.
Any ideas?Thank you

MemberHi,
I also installed vista on my NC10 when i first bought it, similarly the install/drivers all went fine. However whenever i tried to do something more memory intensive (eg older 3d games) i got an identical bsod. i also concluded it wasnt the hardware as the preinstalled xp had behaved itself and as i had a 2gb ram stick on order ddecided to stick it out.Installed the larger ram and havent seen a bsod since – even in the games/programs that always triggered it before. I suspect it has something to do with the os and the graphics driver fighting over shared ram and messing up…but thats just a hunch!
With 2gb installed vista is as solid and responsive as xp with a battery life to match.

Memberthank you for your response
now that you mention it, i got a bsod twice while watching youtube on firefox. heat problem?
the weird stuff is that xp is unaffected.
does that mean i have to stick with xp even when 7 is out?
man, that doesn’t sound good…February 28, 2009 at 9:37 pm #185177asitmc
MemberI’ve had vista on my nc10 for about a month and haven’t seen anything like that. hope it works out for you.

Memberas i said upgrading the ram seems to fixed it, as vista is a lot more ram hungry and with the latest drivers the graphics can share up to 256 mb rather than 128 mb on xp, its not suprising that this issue isnt seen on xp – however many people seem to be running vista fine so unless everyones upgraded to 2gb it might be something to do with a dodgy batch of ram…? As for 7, thats supposedly less memory hungry which may be why thats not causing anyone problems (see the 7 threads) – although the people playing with 7 are probably the same people whove upgraded the ram?

MemberBaal,
I did upgrade to 2gb.
BTW, tomorrow I’m gonna buy some new ram, just to see if that’s the problem. Corsair 2gb Value Select. Should be a good one, at least it’s tested.Again, thank you for your replies.

MemberSorry, didnt notice the part about the ram upgrade in the original post, as that seemed to instantly fix it for me i assumed the problem was related to that.
Hope you resolve the problem!

MemberBack here.
Tried to change the ram with no luck: still the same error.
Any other idea?April 17, 2009 at 1:32 pm #185184mynnydd
MemberHi, I have had this exact same bsod.
It only ever occurs when using my bluetooth headphones.
It can happen after 10 mins or 1/2 hour…………………..bit random.
It never happened under XP.
I use my netbook at home and work so it is on for a minimum of 12 hours a day; the bsod never happens untill I use the bluetooth headphones. If I listen to music or watch a video with wired headphones, I do not get the bsod. -
