MemberHi, I just found this forum and am getting a Sammy NC10 this week (early Christmas gift from son – yipeee!) 🙂
I’d like to know some things and would appreciate any information.
1. Is there really much benefit in having two partitions on the HD?
2. Are the buttons on the touchpad easy to press — this was a BIG factor in choosing a netbook. I was going to get an ASUS or Acer, but both had poor reviews on the buttons being difficult to press.
3. Do I need to update the bios/drivers/wifi, etc. when I get my netbook, or are they all current. (What is the latest bios version?)
4. If I need to update drivers, bios, etc. can someone give me a link to where I can go to get them?
5. Would I be able to get mobile broadband with the NC10? I live in the US and have T-Mobile as my cell phone provider. I don’t know anything about “dongles” etc, and would appreciate any info.
6. What is the best antivirus for the NC10? (I use Norton AV on my desktop/laptop, and wonder if I should install that on the NC10).
7. How good is Samsung’s support?
I’m sorry for all the many questions, but this is a whole new world to me…and I’ll probably have more questions as I start to use my “Sammy” 🙂
Looking forward to getting educated here in this forum.

Memberhope this helps
1. benefit is that if you store all your personal documents, photos videos etc on the second drive if your os becomes corrupted or virus ridden a quick install means you dont waste time copying your documents back over. i do this on all pcs i build
2. no better or worse than other laptop/netbooks
3. new bios is up and some drivers updated yes
4.i believe there is a link up already on the site but here goes
http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/download/supportDown.do?model_nm=NP-NC10&mType=DR&vType=L&disp_nm=NP-NC105. usb dongle works fine im using a 3g dongle in the uk
6. this is a personal issue, i use norton antivirus 2009 as it has an amazingly low footprint 90 days trial online, but avast also seems a popular choice on here
7. well a testment to samsung (and i have tons of products by them) ive never had to use them so cant comment and as support is localised then i couldnt answer wether their us support is any good

MemberCan you tell me how I can find out the version of my bios when I get the netbook? Also, where do I find other versions of drivers, etc?
How and where do I get a dongle?
Again thank you. 🙂

MemberWhen starting and booting up your NC10, press F2 again and again, continuously until you get into the BIOS, there you can see the BIOS-version.
I would recommend upgrading the BIOS to the latest firmware and also update the WLAN driver. Both can be downloaded from the Samsung website.
A 3G-dongle and subscription to mobile internet is something you can get from any major phonecompany.
One of the best antivirus programs in my opinion is AVG and it’s free to use.
Regarding partitions I would recommend just one large one (the 6GB Windows recovory partition is there anyway).
