MemberI’m glad I got the original nc10 then, the glossy screen would be a deal-breaker for me.

MemberI find glossy screens to be a bit hit and miss. For instance, my laptop, Dell Inspiron 9400, has a glossy screen and I find it great, whereas I’ve seen a HP laptop, don’t recall the model, with a glossy screen and it was like a mirror. A pro for glossy is that it gives better colour reproduction, but a con for glossy would be the increased glare. A pro for matte would be that glare isn’t really an issue, but a con for matte would be the viewing angle is narrower.
With that in mind, glossy vs matte will always be a hot topic, as it boils down to user preference in the end.

MemberI agree Rsaeire.
My Dell XPS M1710 has a glossy screen which is not a problem whereas other glossy screens are almost impossible to see under bright lights or in sunshine.
I suspect it’s an issue of quality – high quality expensive glossy screens are OK in most lights, whereas inexpensive glossy screens suffer more from glare.
Given the price of the new NC10, I’m inclined to think it’s an inexpensive glossy screen.

That’s what I’d be worried about too. There’s nothing worse than expecting a screen of a certain quality and receiving something completely different that turns the entire experience sour.February 10, 2009 at 12:20 pm #183059s162000
MemberGlossy Lid + Glossy Screen = Way too much glossy!
Would be good for vain people though.

MemberMy NC10 from Costco in the US came with 3 year warranty so wonder if this will? I’d love to trade but don’t want to lose my warranty! Many only came with one year.

I wouldn’t need a handbag mirror anymore !lolFebruary 10, 2009 at 6:16 pm #183069Cbar
MemberI find this new NC10 a bit odd, O.K. A big thumbs up for the new battery, as for the touchpad personally I’m not that bothered and I absolutely do not want a shiny screen. What I do want is built in 3G, which as we know is on the way, a slightly higher screen res and a BIOS update so we can clock the CPU if we wish. This is just my personal opinion and I happily admit that I’m not the most tech savvy person in the world.

MemberWelcome Cbar 🙂
I’m with you….the trackpad is fine (for me, the 4 mm extra space is neither here nor there) as for your other suggestions…..bring them on!!!

MemberI only use the touchpad in cases of dire emergency, otherwise I have a BT mouse, so…
As for the new battery, it will probably fit our sammies just fine, and become available separately, so who cares ?
I’m curious though about the announced jump in autonomy, compared to the actual increase in capacity (in mAh). Let’s wait and see the real-life tests…

I’m the same. The trackpad is okay to use when absolutely necessary, but nothing compares to a dedicated wireless mouse.February 11, 2009 at 1:20 am #183092battleaxe

Do you own an NC10? If so, would you actually buy the updated version and sell/give away the standard NC10 you own?February 12, 2009 at 1:06 am #183093battleaxe
