Considering using my old Compaq as an additional storage device for my Sammy, but how do I configure the two machines to talk to each other?
Bear in mind I know some basics about networking, but not a Windows machine to a Linux machine or vice versa.
I know for the linux to see the Windows I need samba – which I can’t seem to find….but not sure about windows.
The linux on my Compaq is Ubuntu 8.10.
Package manager -> Search Samba.

tried – keep getting error 404
tried an apt-get update to no luck
slight update, plugged my old bluetooth dongle into the compaq and ubuntu recognised it straight away.
Paired up with Windows but when I try browsing files on the windows computer from ubuntu I get an error message about being unable to connect Obex:// followed by a mac address.
any ideas?
