(Note: I have not yet read this article, but thought it may be of interest to the board)
Well, look like the Nano trounces the Atom.
They need to fix the article though, all the benches have “Longer bars are better” but that’s not the case for some.
Big reason for the performance difference is the L2 cache size.
Hopefully Intel will come out with a next gen Atom to hold off the competition. More layoffs at Intel could mean my NC10 goes back to Costco:/
Just to tell you, via runs at 1.3ghz. This whole test is screwed up.
That article is benchmarking the Intel Atom 230 against the Via Nano L2100.
The NC10 uses an Intel Atom 270 and the NC20 (as far as I’m aware) has a Via Nano U2350.

The one the NC20 uses may run at 1.3GHZ, but obviously that’s not the only version of the VIA processor.
I don’t really see the difference between the N230 and N270, both are 1.6GHZ and both have the same cache sizes and bus speeds. Both are 45nm, but from what I read the N230 is a lower power consumption model or something. So the performance for those two should be the same.
There’s also the N280 that is now shipping and appearing in netbooks.

I believe it is the U2250 that is in the NC20.
And yeah, this test might say something, but not about the current get of N270 netbooks vs. the NC20.

Ah yes, my bad. The NC20 comes with the U2250.
