Hey all, just thought I’d share some news we just posted on our blog:
“A Samsung rep just told us that the NC20 is coming to the U.S. starting on March 16 to be sold exclusively through newegg.com. The NC20 sold through New Egg will be black and come with a 5900mAh battery. The U.S. price hasn’t been determined yet, but on Amazon UK it is listed for £379.54 (about $478 U.S.).”
I’m most excited about the battery. With a high-capacity like that, I hope it will last for at least 7 hours, maybe 8. We’re not done testing and benchmarking it yet, but I’ll keep you all informed.

This is a different battery than the NC20 that’s been released in Europe has?
Otherwise, I don’t see why you expect to get several more hours out of it than other people have been getting.
March 2, 2009 at 10:00 pm #185278asitmcMember5200mah on euro ones isn’t it?
It will be a hit if the price will be around $450…but I kinda doub it.March 2, 2009 at 11:36 pm #185273ktbMember[quote1236036806=Roman]

[/quote1236036806]According to my colleague, the battery coming out in the US will be slightly different.
March 2, 2009 at 11:56 pm #185276summertanMemberExclusively from NewEgg? No amazon? That’s weird …
380 british pounds = 536 dollars currently not 478

Thanks for the post!
[/quote1236095358]I hope so, too! But the rep is generally reliable.
jez, I’ll let you know when our full review is up (probably today or tomorrow morning).
March 3, 2009 at 6:00 pm #185270PugriderMemberktb,
Two questions about the NC20:
Does it really have a glossy screen? That would be a disappointment.
How much does it weigh? Is it really only a half pound heavier than the NC10?
Thanks

[/quote1236203880]The review is now up. Yes, the weight is only 3.2 pounds. The screen is glossy, but according to Joanna it “has just the right amount of gloss.”
March 5, 2009 at 3:15 am #185271PugriderMemberThanks ktb. Now I have to decide between the NC10 SE and the NC20. The NC10 SE just dropped $30 to $469, so it will be interesting to see how they price the NC20. I think that the Asus 1000HE is putting pressure on all of the other netbooks to lower their prices to compete.

March 7, 2009 at 12:42 am #185279asitmcMemberif the nc20 in $450~500 range, I will be all over it. I would sacrifice a little bit of portability and compact size for the extra screen size. However, I don’t know if I will like the black color of the nc20.
March 7, 2009 at 3:28 am #185277summertanMemberits not going to be below the UK price
