never thought of that… does the phone act like a router in that sense? i thought only things like Joikuspot let you use the wifi like that…

I do exactly the same thing with my iPhone.As for the phone acting as a router, I think it is yes, though I’m not 100% certain as it may be acting as a bridge instead. And it doesn’t contain any of the other technologies you would normally expect in a ‘router’ though such as a DHCP server.
I use Joikuspot Premium since december 2008. My Nokia E90 act like a router. All Symbian S60 v3 and higher can use the Joikuspot software. No card needed in Samsung NC10.
