My NC10 hasn’t arrived yet but I have read a bit about the slightly tinny quality of sound from the speakers, I don’t know how good or bad it is and it’s not a major issue for me but I was just wondering if anything could easily be done about it apart from maybe adjusting equalizer settings.
I have a friend who recently got a Eee PC1000H and the only advantage that I could possibly see for buying it above an NC10 was the audio quality which was pretty good and seems good for playing music at a pretty high volume in a large room with no distortion. (TBH it was never really a contender for me as it is slightly heavier, has only 80GB HD and the screen is arguably not as good)
While it may have better speakers, the Eee PC also runs something called Dolby Sound Room – does anyone know if the NC10 can use this technology, would it make a difference and how you’d go about getting it? Plus any other ideas for improving sound quality?
the easiest mod to do by far would be to put different/better speakers in it, but seemingly the problem is the space within the device to mount them.
i also don’t have an nc10 in my posession yet but when i do this is one of the things i’ll be looking into.
there is another thread where someone found the website of the supplier of the original speakers and the specific model if that is any help to you.

Having opened the case i gotta say theres not much room for improvements, the speaker is about 2 cms long and 1 cm wide and in a moulded seating, there really is not much room for anything else.
