Hey guys,
as some of you might be aware, I’ve got a Virgin media 3G dangle coming soon and I’ve been thinking of trying to see if it’ll fit inside the NC10, there seems to be enough space where the built in HSDPA would fit.
If it does then I will just run a USB extension lead out through the RAM door and into a USB. If the signal holds up and is strong enough then I’ll look into hard wiring the dongle onto the mobo.
Has anyone got any suggestion or advice? Or has anyone done such a thing already.
Cheers.
never say never, having opened mine i think theres very little space to fit a usb dongle to be honest. I had trouble locating a space to fit a tiny aerial in for the wifi. but with a little cutting here or there it may be possible
No!
Don’t run it an external usb port,i’v seen at internal been fitted on another netbook and their was a small amount of soldering required but it meant it was all internal no need to waste a usb port
will see if i can dig it out

similar mod as far as soldering the usb connection to the motherboard goes, i reckon it can be done 🙂
Cheers Joe thats what i was looking for 🙂
You don’t have to go through one of the external USB’s. The Bluetooth is connected via USB on the right side. The other USB-port on the right side (looking at how the Bluetooth is connected) is something you can use to internally connect that way.
Cheers guys, freddy I’ll look into that.
I’ve modded netbooks before, mainly a EEE PC 900, I added a touch screen and BT all running from an USB hub, all hard wired in. Mind that was after I killed one.
Hehe 🙂 Modding the NC10 would be nice, I’m still waiting for some 10.2″ touch screen kit to be available on ebay….
