Is the Squeaky sound result of the speakers themselves or the sound card?
January 28, 2009 at 11:15 am #180403g6zruMemberThe speakers!
January 29, 2009 at 3:31 pm #180407SideburntMemberIm still a bit confused as to how the little speakers that come with the unit are so poor, 1w shouldn’t make that much difference should it? (although clearly it does)
I made a 12v powered pre-amp from instructables.com once, and it boosted the output volume, would the same principle work with the sammy, powered internally obviously?

I don’t know the real difference between these two except for the slightly different spec’s. I choose the 25KC08-N because I saw that this model is used in other notebooks as well like f.i some Lenovo and Fujitsu-Siemens computers.
[/quote1233312887]Can you express, in a percentage, how much better the modded speakers are in comparison to the original speakers?
February 4, 2009 at 8:23 am #180425jdenbrokMemberNot so much activity on this part of the forum, eventhough I find this subject very interesting. Are the 25KC08-N speakers really good enough, or is sound still poor due to the small speakers? (Everybody this far sais its logical the speakers are bad on any netbook) Does anybody know about better small speakers on the market?°
Would love to do this, if it is usefull.February 4, 2009 at 10:37 am #180387RsaeireMemberI know. I was hoping for a reply to my post above, as I’m also interested in the subject matter.
February 4, 2009 at 10:50 pm #180394FreddyMemberI would say around 50% better in my opinion.

If I choose: is it compatible with the current connectors.
Link to speaker on ELFA site – Speaker 40KS08P looks better imohope no1 thinks im a nut case, but i love this stuff and my nc10 has done me proud it doesn’t deserve second rate speakers
Technical data
Impedance: 8 Ω
Height: 40 mm
Depth: 8 mm

Thank you for the reply. That’s definitely a significant increase in quality.February 6, 2009 at 11:11 am #180395FreddyMember1. Don’t know. “80H Decoder” Anyone?
2. I don’t think so, there is not enough room to put in speakers that are 40mm in length as it seems those are. The ones I got in are as big as you can put in there. Sure – you can probably cut away a mm or two from the mainboard but it doesn’t help any way I’m afraid. What I would suggest instead – if you can find a pair…is to get a pair of round speakers, not square. Round speakers would probably produce an even better sound and the diaphragm would be bigger. I have however not been able to find any such speakers. Such speakers can probably have a diameter of about 28mm but the should also have a height that fits inside the NC10 and that seems to be hard. ELFA has a pair of 28mm round speakers but the height makes them impossible to get in there.

February 6, 2009 at 1:42 pm #180408SideburntMemberI’ve spotted model 23KE08 on http://www.veco.com.tw
Nice n’round 23x23x8.8 max 2.5W eachIf you look at the speaker picture there is quie a difference in width of mounting and the width of the speaker, I think these will fit, and I’ve emailed the company about ordering.
I got a reply asking if they are for repair?, um kinda….
Geek modding?February 6, 2009 at 2:16 pm #180396FreddyMemberDon’t waste your time with VECO, I tried for weeks to get a pair of speakers from them. In the beginning they sound helpful but after that they do not reply on e-mails and nothing happens. That’s why I had to get my speakers elsewhere.

[/quote1234051302]F*&@ the height I have Dremel! ( Never fear!I won’t rush out and cut large gapping wholes in to my case, outrageous. It will be a careful, exact and precise incision =D ) haha.

[/quote1234051574]Oooh no need for NC10 Open heart Surgery… i can not get to the website?more details please!
Anyone fort of reserve mounting the speaker,so its flush with the case?some extra cable wire so you can open the case easily.
here is a picture of a speaker flush with a surface would be awesome for that to be at the bottom of my nc10.
Ps. 80h Decoder description varies across the vastness of the world wide web but the general gist of it, is its used for error trapping some sort of connector for technical services to check various devices or some stuff O_o not for us mere mortals
