November 27, 2008 at 2:28 am #169118gswilderMemberDell has a nice Draft-N card, the 1505 I believe. Bought one on ebay for about $25 dollars (US).
I used it in my older Dell Laptop and I get good speed with my Draft N wireless network. The Dell 1505 PCI-Mini-E only has 2 antenna connectors.

Well impressed with this upgrade, many thanks for posting…
I actually ordered the card & aerial before my NC10 arrived.I have a question my current wireless router is a Netgear WGT624 v3 @ 108mbps…am I correct in thinking I will need to upgrade my router to an 802.11n style like on the list here

irishkeetNovember 27, 2008 at 8:08 pm #169092TheRingMemberyes the netgear is a wireless g with a speed boost technology that supposedly doubles the throughput with compatible netgear cards.
Yep you will need to upgrade your router to achieve n speeds. this does not have to cost much. a belkin n router can be had for about 65 pounds now upto the lovely belkin n1 vision at 90 pounds. there are new models from linksys and dlink which are true 3*3 n routers and come with ports to put a usb hdd on and acts as a nas but now you are talking in excess of 150
For bt adsl heres some ideas

December 3, 2008 at 5:53 am #169122blueheavenMember@TheRing: thanks again for the pics you posted about replacing the WLAN card 🙂 Installed everything the same way and popped in a 320GB Harddrive while the cover was open anyways… Took me about 40 minutes, could be quicker but i was extra carefull opening the cover without damage. One again great mod, should be stickied.

December 5, 2008 at 9:53 am #169172JCKMemberTo all you brave N-card upgraders
a) I assume all the screws have to be removed before the case is popped open.
b) Any further advice from experience on how to safely pop that case open, after removing the screws from the back, I am trying to avoid cracking the plastic.
c) Were you able to to get the Prosent software to work with the Atheros chip upgrading to the intel 5300
