So If I buy this from ebay for $40 dollars – 25% live and buy the aerial from here for
for $10 + Shipping,
Total cost would be arond $50-$60 for Wireless N.
Hmmm, is it worth it? I do have a wireless N router but this will only work when I am at home….
I did just get a 2gb ram from here for $30 – Live 25% and $10 rebate = $15

Do you guys think Wireless N for $60 dollars is worth it?

MemberDepends really on what you plan to do with the nc10, i done it because i love to tinker and total cost was about 30 pounds for card and aerial. I hate usb keys and like to move files from main pc as and when so the wireless n was agiven for myself. If you plan just to surf the web then its probably not worth it. if you are going to move large files or just love to tinker than yep its worth it.
i brought mine from

[/quote1227294409]Thanks TheRing,
Hmm, I decided to buy it from your seller, it was pretty cheap, it only costs 28$ to US (minus ebay live casback = $21) but I have to wait 3 weeks for it to arrive from China.
Now For the antenna or aerial, Question: Do you just connect it to the wireless card and leave the other end unattached or do you have to attach it somewhere?
It costs $10 + shipping from the website that you bought it from (their US website is not letting me check out for some reason.)
Does anybody else know a US website that sells this antenna/aerial? I don’t want to get the wrong one,
Thanks
Is that the only antenna that will work or does anybody know a cheaper one in the US?

MemberHi, new here. Waiting for my NC10 to arrive.
How is the range with the new 5300 card, and how much of an improvement in range was it from original?

Member@john
If you take a look at the pics you can see the aerial setup of the old atheros and intel card basically on the atheros you have two wires, the blackgoes to main the white to aux, on the intel the black goes to 1 and the white to 2. the third aerial goes in the middle no3. The connector is called a ufl (dont ask lol) and just pushes on.
if you search for internal laptop wifi aerial you may get lucky but really oxfordtec tend to be the best imho.
Range was good as i got 5 bars as in the pics at the end of the garden through 2/3 solid walls.

MemberOn 1 of the photos you mentioned the 3g HSDPA slot, is it operational or can it been used in some way?

MemberAfter looking closely at it it would be possible to solder an additional molex connector to it but there is no way of knowing if the bios would support the additional connector.

Membergenerally if the copper tracks are there then the software will support it.
these types of devices are always designed for maximum scalability at minimum manufacturer cost. it costs less to make a basic unit that does everything and miss a few connectors out to limit numbers of features than it does to write two different lots of software and make two different lots of mainboards.

MemberLoving the work there theRing, I was carrying a little research on the mini pci n cards and came across a intel 4965AGN card. Is the 5300 better and later version?
Thanks
Kit

MemberYeah the 4965 agn has less driver options availiable to it. The 5300 apparently draws less power (part of centrino 2) and has better sensitivity. The 4965 maxed out at 150 connection whereas the 5300 had no probs at hitting 300 (although throughput is more like 65mbps) with a compatible router.
The 5300 is as cheap as the 4965 but slightly harder to get hold of. The 4965agn though would do just as well
