My Speakers are great for the size. plenty loud, reasonably clear. tinny yes but for general use there perfectly good. with headphones or outputting to surround sound its incredibly good sound, and very loud.

I agree with Jonny, I don’t expect high quality audio from tiny netbook speakers, but the NC10’s speakers are adequate. If I want to hear stuff at a higher quality, I use my Shure SE530 PTH headphones with my NC10 and it sounds as good as my iPod or Dell XPS laptop.
January 27, 2009 at 2:51 pm #170170avserviceMemberI need to update my findings in this thread too I guess.
I discovered the problem with my machine and started a new thread about it as it was so unbeleivable, well to me at least.Somehow the Karaoke feature had been enabled thus rendering the audio useless for me.
It was really that simple. Now I do not find the audio through the speakers to be great or really even good but it is useful as I had hoped for at a minimum.
Again,I can not see how they did it but if you can listen to a HP 2133 make sure that you do!

January 30, 2009 at 3:33 pm #170173Dr. ZoidbergMemberTried the eq settings in the OP and they were horrible on Skype. Even tinnier than the default of 0 across the board. Notwithstanding the interesting discussion on why the sound is horrible, any other tips out there to improve the sound quality especially on Skype?
January 31, 2009 at 4:05 am #170165berflesMemberIf I ever need decent speakers, I’ll use the ones I have for my Zune. If I want to watch something in bed I’ll use my Grados. The speakers are fine for what they’re intended for, which is system sounds and YouTube type content. Wasn’t expecting anything more.
February 1, 2009 at 12:11 am #170174Dr. ZoidbergMemberI find the speakers terrible for Skype, which is a very typical netbook application.
February 8, 2009 at 4:13 pm #170172mclearMemberI find part of the problem vis-a-vis quality is that the default setting for the Realtek speaker on hardware acceleration is low. If you increase this to maximum I have no dephasing or jumps with video playback.
Aslo VLC allows a far louder maximum volume than Windows Mediaplayer.
February 14, 2009 at 3:34 pm #170160StriderMemberIt’s odd as my white Sammy seems to have better quality sound than my wife’s black one – even with the same settings…

[/quote1234629640]Could you supply the steps to get to the hardware accelerator to change this. Have tried a couple of paths but don’t know how to get to it. Thanks.
February 15, 2009 at 12:29 am #170155mauwongMemberTried mclear suggestion, increasing the hardware acceleration does improve the qualify of the sound. There is a small buzzing that went away after the adjustment.
Ragman,
You can find the feature under Control Panel / Sounds and Audio Devices / Under volume tab select Advanced under Speaker Settings / Select Performance tax / Click on Restore Default.February 22, 2009 at 2:32 pm #170177obionenairobiMemberMauwong,
what do you mean with:
There is a small buzzing that went away after the adjustment.
Which adjustment ?February 23, 2009 at 1:01 am #170175Dr. ZoidbergMemberSee also the NC10 Forum>General Discussion>[poll] possible solution of the low sound volume problem in Windows
for tips and further discussion on improving the sound. Worked for me (and several others) – one of the best recommendations on the site for the NC10 IMO.
