Hi, is it in any way possible to place a small dedicated video card on the wonderful nc10??
Did anyone give it a try? I figure it would be possible to remove the wifi card and place in the spot a small one, but i dont know.January 3, 2009 at 12:52 am #178381AlfiharParticipantUnfortunately this is not possible, there are no miniPCIe graphics cards, and you would have to extend the cable connected to the screen as well. Also the card is really too small and wouldn’t receive enough power.
Some laptops do have removable MXM graphics cards, however the NC10 does not.

That requires that the laptop has an express card slot, which the NC10 does not. However technically as the miniPCIe in the NC10 is a PCIe 1x it may be possibly to create an adapter and cut a hole in the case to use with an XG Station or other PCIe card (high chance of it not working), however both would require an external power source and would require that you use an external screen. It would be far easier to just buy a desktop computer at that point.

There are plenty of old great games that work and some nice light weight independent modern ones too. Keep reading the front page blog as I will be posting up some good cheap/free NC10 games over the next few months.

January 6, 2009 at 1:22 am #178389PessimissedMemberIn 12 months time when all the latest netbooks will be running Crysis, we’ll be crying about this 😀
January 6, 2009 at 10:03 pm #178383BlackWhizzMemberI wouldnt think so. Netbooks are limited to Atom Processrs. AMD has a netbook CPU line-up available at Q3 2009, but i think they are rubbish.
The main problem will be, battery drain vs power. A netbook wasnt originally intendd to type some documents, check your mail and do some surfin.
