I would have thought that the problem is not the amount of heat the Atom processor generates as that’s pretty low, instead the chipset is the part which probably produce the most heat.
If you look at the mini-itx Atom boards they often have a small passive heatsink on the CPU and a much larger heatsink and fan assembly on the chipset.
I wonder what temperature the chipset reaches and what it’s maximum is.
Has anyone an idea to change the threshold when the fan comes on? (except the SILENT Mode)
I’ve found not software solution yet.
I think it could be a little bit higher than 50 Degrees.

I never saw the need to turn off the fan, as it is barely audible. I guess some people wish to have a completely silent solution.
